I had a friend I had met at a DBSA group. She was the only girlfriend I had. We typically texted everyday and would get together maybe once or twice a month. I have known her for 3 years. She's BP 2 where I'm BP 1.
Well about 2 months ago we were suppose to get together and go shopping at a flea market. She was suppose to show up at my house at 9am. She is frequently late, and that morning she was. 10:30 am I send her a text and ask where is she.(Note she doesn't get phone reception in her apartment or I would have called) I get the typical response "sorry, just woke up. Be there in a hour." Well an hour comes and goes. Send her another text and I get "sorry, I'll leave in twenty".
Well I've decided that I'm tired of having to wait on her and I send her a text saying "One of my pet peeves is people being late." The response: "well maybe I don't come then I won't be late." and it went downhill from there.
She ended up telling me things about me she didn't like. Stuff we had already discussed in the past that I thought was over that evidently she still had resentment over. Like why I didn't take calls between the hours of 4-6 (because I'm cooking dinner and eating). I mean it was bizarre.
Since that day, there's been no communication. Well this past Monday, I tried to call her cuz I thought enough time had passed for things to cool. No answer and I didn't leave a message. I sent her a text asking if she would like to meet somewhere for dinner so I could give her her Christmas presents that I never got to her. No response.
I just can't believe this friendship is over. I don't know how I feel about it. It hurts to be rejected. I kept going over the argument in my mind and I don't know what I could have done differently other than skip the part where I told her she needed to go take here meds (I know I'm bad, but she was like being way too melodramatic).
Thoughts Anyone?

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

People are strange. We can't always predict what they will say or do and we certainly cannot read their minds. What happens behind closed doors to one friend can remain a mystery to the other. Maybe she was depressed? Angry? Irritable? You were her target because you were so close?
Friendships between women can also be volatile and unpredictable. Speaking as a woman, I'm using my own life as an example. (Remember, I have ONE friend) But they're usually strong and even stubborn. If that was the entirety of the breakdown of the relationship, I feel it can be salvaged. Just be patient. Who knows? Perhaps she'll contact you. But don't text or call - give her the space she needs. I hope the two of you can work this out in time. Friendships are hard to come by and awful to lose.
Maybe I'm too harsh bc I had a childhood friend that just dropped me when I was 40 and had my first manic/psychotic episode. She didn't stick around long enough to find out what was wrong with me when she knew I was not acting myself. It hurts like hell. I am sorry you are going through this. Big Hugs!!
Forgiveness is a very important quality in my mind... None of us is perfect
It just plain sux... I hope that she'll come around and realize how important a good friendship is and that it needs to be cherished....xo
You know, one of the hardest things for me to figure out when being friends with 'somebody like me', with Any kind of mental illness, is that I was with someone who IS 'like me' and might behave unpredictably from time to time.
It's not that we Mean to, but we get comfortable with a person's behavior after awhile in a friendship or relationship, once we have gotten to Know them - then when they act Really different, out of the blue, we are just BLown Away.
I wonder how people have thought of Me, if I've behaved that way.
It's not that her behavior was Okay - because it Wasn't - but do you want to forgive her, if the chance comes up, both for her lateness And for the way she spoke to you about the things you did?
I know in the past I've let things build up when they weren't supposed to; I've been mad about them right Then, but later I thought, gee, that wasn't really important enough to Lose someone over. (maybe she is like that?)
Hugggggs - sorry this happened though :(
@ Nester - yes, I lost my Childhood 'best friend' a few years ago when I ran off to Washington, because she told me if I acted bipolar and 'left her' again that would be It - no more friendship.
And yet when I look back, I may miss the company but I Don't miss the relationship we had; she was controlling, petty and negative the entire time.
So I guess it depends on how we see the Whole thing, and what we Want out of a friendship? what we Will accept that we don't like because we want the overall package More, or things that just cause us to say, That's It. :/
