The other day my bf and i found out his older sister was expting some how him and i got talking on what if we are togeter and I want to have a baby..He said we talked about it befor we shouldnt..We should'nt (if were togeter down the road yes were only 2o and 22 but been togeter for 5yr and i just wouldnt want to close that door)
Why should'nt we
His a.d.h.d(fights with it everyday wasnt for weed he would be fucked)*no hes know lazy cuz of it dont judge he owns a house*
and
well me bipolar when its just the mom its like 50%
but with both of us being "mentaly ill"
I thought this befor dateing my boyfriend that I couldnt live with myself if I gave my child bipolar..but I love kids and dont want to close that door becase of bipolar...But its a big chase with my mate knowing the odds it wouldnt be rite bringing a kid into this world..would it?
I would die if i did that to my child
I know i shouldnt really think on it im 20
and I am not really thinking to hard on it i'll see how i feel in 5 year or so who knows were i'll be
Oh ya and NO! im not one of those girls who this is my frist love and i think realtionship are esay and we'll be togeter forever we both know anything could happen(but for the last 4 yrs its been good) I understand if no one asnwer cuz i cznt spell or the touchie subject

I have four great kids (so far) oldest 16 and youngest 4. I do not regret having any of them and they are all exceptionally talented kids...You just never know. I am newly diagnosed bp so this was not an issue for me. My mom recently has been bringing up some questions on why she had me with my father who was unhealthy bp with a very strong family history of mental illness. This bothers me because I am what I am and I would not change that. I think my bp has made me very determined and sucessfull in alot of areas. I guess I am lucky I did not know before i had my kids but i do worry about them now. They are such a blessing it has to be right. Good luck and hugs to you.

See!! thats my ponit!! not all kids..just me and my mate are "ill" i hate saying that ah!
so theres a big chase of the child being too(if im still with him at that time u never know but assuming it could happen)
bipolar messed up my life alot ..alot i didnt get dx till 14 but even befor then the school wanted me tested way befor then..and I know if effected my bf and if it wasnt 4 self medication he would be extramly a.d.h.d.

What I did not tell you is that my mother I believe is undiagnosed pb. She drinks everyday has depression has a felony record and one nearly sucessfull sucide attempt. I grew up in the worst environment and I am still glad I am who I am. I am a RN that has had an impact on many lives and saved a few I have a great family of my own and yes I struggle everyday with BP. I believe the question you need to ask is do you have it in you to be a parent and are ready for parenthood and maybe not focus as much on the potential mental health of the child because I believe every life has an impact on the world. Just a thought...from some one who has been dealt the same cards your future child may hold...

Oh no say i said befor im not ready anytime soon to have a baby! im only 20 im still young,I really need to fouse on my metal health ..but down the road i could be competle funtioning and not up and down like now and well just handle myself better.say when im 30 or so im that prefect picture..still would it be right..knowing its not longer just 50% cuz of me but it more like 90% cuz we both have an illness..I just dont no presonal if i couldnt live with myself if my child got bipolar too..i wouldnt wish this on my wrost emimne..anyone

Hi meme welcome to my world, l would love to have a baby but like you and every other person with bp we don't want to pass it on. My mother had it and passed it on to me, the chances are 50/50 that any children we have could have it. I've listened to mums on here and for a lot of children an emotional trigger is needed for it to surface for most.

Your boyfriend is speaking of no children as the person he is today not the man he will be 5 or 10 yrs from now he'll be older wiser more mature and stable in life both of you will. So ask him if he might want babies years from now if its still a definate no at least you know some people just don't want children ever and fear of passing on bp might not be the reason.
