My boyfriend of almost a year has bipolar disorder. Lately he's been really depressed. A few days ago he told me he almost killed himself. And the day after that he said he was hearing things. I talked to him today about it and he said he was hearing voices but in his voice (if that makes any sense). He's saying that everything sounds so loud and he's really anxious. I'm not talking to him right now because he isn't responding. I'm so worried. I'm not sure what to do? I don't know if he's okay or having psychosis. I'm scared. I love him and this really worries me.

Hearing voices does sound like psychosis .

But not enough info on your Topic.

Does he take medications ?
Is he under the care of a Psychiatrist ?

If he does see a Pdoc { psychiatrist} , it might be a good time to call his Pdoc.

In any case, it sounds like he needs some kind of intervention

Yes he's on medication. And he does see a psychologist and a psychiatrist. He has an appointment on the 29th of this month.

I would try moving up the appointment to this week if you could. He might need a change in meds. Could you go to the doctor with him? Sometimes it is good to get multiple opinions and perspectives. My friends and family come in with me sometimes, it helps especially when I am not doing well and forget to tell the pdoc some things. They fill in the gaps for me. Make sure you take care of yourself too!
