I need advice.

Yes, I am bipolar that's why I am posting here, I have taken a break off this board due to being so busy.

Here is my problem and I am afraid it will set me off into a manic state.
I have a situation that I really do not know what to do? I don't really want to visit my mom for the holidays because my brother is once again living with her, hes 43. He is and I am not lying here a sociopath. He lied about having caner to get money, he attacked my husband, hes a raging alcoholic. And overall a very disturbed person. I feel bad I do not want to visit my mom for she lives in another state, but I do not want to be around him. Its not like I am driving 10 hours to go for day we usually stay a week. I don't know what to tell her. I can maybe tell her my husband has to work. It disturbs me she also keep taking him in.. She even had a restraining order on him and dropped it and took him back in.

I agree with you 100 percent!!!!... If you don't feel you can just tell your mom the truth I would come up with a fib and perhaps you can have a visit with her in the New Year... I absolutely would not subject myself to that or your husband... Maybe your mom could come out and spend Easter with you or next Christmas.... Big hug for you and a blessing...xo

I think being honest is best and tell her you can't be around your brother. Maybe you can arrange for a time for you mother and you to meet without him.

We're often faced with conflicting decisions but in the end we have to do what's best for ourselves. It sounds to me that avoiding your brother is a good thing

Thank You for the advice, My mom can not come here for we only live in a one bedroom apt right now so that's not an option. I am afraid if I tell her the truth she sill snap. She is not the easiest person to talk to at times.

Then I would just tell a little fib.... Saying that your husband is working should nip it in the bud

I would just be completely honest. If your mum chooses to have a hissy fit about it then just leave her to it. If people don't want to act like responsible adults then you are better off without them in your life.

I would just tell my mom that I love her but do not want to be around said brother that I just could not put myself in that position and that I wished things were different.

All good advice Persiangirl generally in life honestly I'd the best policy. I think you are doing the right thing by separating yourself from your brother. There comes a time share safety come first this looks like one of those times!
