My doctor is weaning me off of Zyprexa cuz I simply cannot lose weigh on it He has prescribed me Tegretol..Has anyone had success with this med? He told me there is minimal weight gain compared to zyprexa. If not no weight gain.

I do not have experience with Tegretol......but many people here on DS use it with great success ...Zyprexa caused me to gain 29 pounds in 29 days....I hated it !

I gained ten pounds in one month when I started respiratdyl (SP?). I told my pdoc that would hinder me from taking my meds so he put me on a weight neutral anti-psychotic. There's some out there without this side effect. Tell your pdoc about it and see if he can change it. Good luck!!

I have still had an appetite on Tegretol however I'm on Seroquel with it... It muddies my thinking however I do feel much more peaceful
