OMGosh hun. I don't really know what to say, but if you feel your children and you are in some kind of Physical or Emotional danger I would leave. If you truly need to go to SS and ask for help. There is always a way to get out of something if you put your mind into it. I understand you are going through a lot of emotions yourself, but you need to be strong and just walk away and take control.

I grew up with an abusive alcoholic father. It was pure Hell.

Have you tried Alanon? It won't cure the problem but it sure helps emotionally to be surrounded by people who truly understand. Someone there would also know more about what housing options you have in your area.

My in-laws live with us and, like you, we are stuck in this situation for a while to come. (Read my journal if you are curious why) While we can't change the circumstances we can change our attitudes. I have asked for and received tons of help here at DS regarding the mess I am in.

Sometimes we just need a little support (people to say they understand) and other times we need actual advise. Give specific problems you are having with your "alcoholic" and maybe we can brainstorm some ideas if we all put our heads together.

Hang in there girl. It's not easy living with a drunk.

((HUGS)) sweetie sorry that u have to make a tough decision i was in a relationship where this guy just went in and out of rehab just for me but not for himself. I will keep u in my prayers i am sorry that u are in this situation and i am here if u need to talk

You need to get him out of your life. Why does he come to your Mothers house? Does he live there too? Get a retraining order on him, stay with your Mum until you feel better to live on your own. Hugs..it's not easy.

My stepfather lives here too. He's a chauvenist(sp?) pig, and unfortunately the ONLY regular male influence on my son.

My boyfriend and I are planning to move in together, but not in the near enough future. Until then I can't emotionally handle my kids by myself, leaving me here with my stepfather.

It's been really intense with stress and anxiety here. My Mom has BP too, and everyone is just in a world of their own trying to make it thru another day.

(Hugs) This isn't much but have you thought about al-anon? I know it won't settle the immediate problems but it sure helps with dealing with an alcoholic.

I could look into it, biggest problem being child care. But maybe I could work it out. Thanks. :)

Are your children cute??? If they are just bring them along to the alanon meeting! Just kidding. : )

Call and ask the coordinater of the alanon meeting (google alanon and your city's name and you should come up with info) and ask him/her about child care. There might be a room right next to the meeting that your kids could play in safely.

Alanon is really awesome. You won't be sorry you made the effort. I have been to many many meetings in several different states and have nothing but love and suppoort at them.
