Ok, My Pysc. dr. tells me I am not Bipolar, she just thinks I am severely depressed. I was very suicidal, intended to kill myself 2 and cut once. Since then I have been put on cymbalta and Wellbutrin. And clonazapam. Ok, clonazapam is for anxiety. I only take it at bedtime to help me sleep along with serequel now. She wanted to see if I could get off one of the anti-depressants so she took me off the cymbalta. I go back, I tell her Im on a roller coaster, she says, Lets try a little Limictal. So on it I go. It is not helping one little bit. In fact Im worse than ever. I think I am Bi-polar. Please, you tell me:
One min. I am on cloud nine. The least tiny little thing can throw me into a severely depressive state. Sometimes so bad that I go into almost a shock like condition.where I am extremely sleepy and get very cold, I have to go to bed, dont sleep but cant open my eyes and cant get warm no matter what.
The least little thing can put me into a very irritated state where I want to jump down anyones throat!
All day long, I am HIGH, then Depresses, Then irritated, then High again. And when Im High Im High as in everything is funny, Im on top of the world, talking 90 miles a min. and having the time of my life. Then someone will say something and SLAM, Im manic depressive again! I am on a constant roller coaster all day long.
I have extremely low self-esteem. I dont want to live. I hate myself! Because I hate the way it affects my family, my kids and my husband! He is the most wonderful man in the world and he nor my kids deserve what I am putting them through.
Do I tell the dr. I am Bi-polar and to treat me so, or am I just losing my mind?
Please tell me your opinions. Do you think I am bipolar? My dr. doesnt think so.

Before anyone gets offended by my comments re anger... just know that I am referring to myself also.

The bottom line is, a doc has to make this judgment, not anyone here.
I guess the key differences I see here are:
1) Reactive behavior and
2) Self -injury.
But to be honest, in my opinion, I can't see how the heck docs dx the difference between ultra-rapid-cyclers and bpd.
Also should be noted that the abuse in childhood can be present in any type of disorder.
