Every F'ing time I try mood stabilizers medications there is always some side effect that messes up my ability to take it..
I was really happy with the Trileptal, I seemed to be stable, my moods had been better and everything thing started to look good to start my Hep treatments.
Now I've had pain and weakness in my legs and trouble walking, looked it up and sure enough it's some of the more severe side effects of the Trileptal.
This is the reason I don't stay on meds, but then I kiss the Hep c treatment good bye

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
But what stabilizers have you tried? There's got to be one that will work. Maybe the trileptal would still be effective and not cause problems with a reduced dose. Don't give up!
Is continuing to take it the lesser of two evils, considering why you're taking it?
Does the paperwork say anything about that side effect possibly lessening with time?
Watch out!!!!
LOL!!!! When I started developing TD from Thorazine, the psychiatric nurse cheerfully told me she could give me another drug that might keep it from happening!!!
The Pdoc overruled her, though, and said I can never take Thorazine again.
Too bad, too. I really loved it.
Hoping you can find relief and that the side effects depart, or you try another combo... I recently did great for 8 months, it is a tease to change meds again.... my heart goes out to you, while I remind you...
Its a process, an means to an end - you need treatment, again no one said you were suppose to like it or enjoy it......That is so truly a bipolar thing, my way or no way, or my favorite "All or nothing" : ) We tend to like extremes, don't we? ((((HUG))) it does suck, and I am teasing, but I do care Will, really it does suck!!!!
I had a similar rare side effect to Viibryd.
I would say to keep on trying to find something that you can tolerate.
The alternative is grim, so you might as well.
Now I am finally on something that works without weight gain and now hubby won't kiss me due to excessive salivation. It's always something with these meds.
Until then I'm cutting the Trileptal in half , from 600 mg to 300 mg, hopefully that will take care of the problem
I've been on a number of mood stabilizers in the past the only one that didn't give me side effects was Depakote, a huge no no with Hep C.
Lithium it was balance and coordination
Lamictal, was cognitive dysfunction, made me as thick as a brick LOL.
So hopefully lowering the dose will be OK with my pdoc and will alleviate the side effects.

So I did the right thing cutting my dose in half Yay!
Plus, I need to go for blood work to check sodium levels
