Good luck! It's a bitch to deal with. Beside all of your physical and mental problems, don't forget to stress the side effects of your meds and how badly they affect you.

As long as you have a lawyer and a Dr's note (doesn't that bring back memories? Hahaha) you should be fine. Now you go and gettum!! Lol!

I did my disability application all on my own. First time, my heart wasn't in it and naturally it was turned down. I then got to the point where I NEEDED it to live. I had lost so many jobs, I had such stressful events going on, I was looking for a place to live, I'd sold my house, my mother died, you name it. Let me tell you. I went back as far as my teenage years and recalled how being undiagnosed BP had changed my whole life, what a different person I might have become, then went into great detail about all the things I've done to totally MESS up my life, why I did these things, what the bad results were. That I kept on, that I filed bankruptcy twice because I spent money like a crazy person. The 3 main things I think they look for are 1) Your work history. Can you prove you lost your jobs because of your disability and can you get it backed up in writing 2) Be honest about how long you've had to see a therapist and a psychiatrist, that's important that you've been seeking help a long time and not just the last 6 months. Have them write letter in your favor and 3) Tell them the most fu**ed up, off the wall, people can't be near you, screaming, wanting to die, can't leave the house to buy food, documents of any visits to pych. hospitals or ER's for overdoses. A paper trail. One that shows your decline over time or because of some stressful event, death of a parent, a loved one, a friend. Try to explain just what is *that* thing that makes you no longer able to do the work you had done in the past. Believe me, if you appear able to put a nut and a bolt together, they won't find you disabled. ADD and Fear of people helps. ;-) I was so lucky and when my letter, backpay and Medicare in two years came in, I was jumping for joy because I was just hanging by a thread.

Good luck TC disability is hard to get these days and esp for people who are high functioning....Luvinlex gave some good pointers on the process the more you can back up the better.

It's a simple process really expect to be turned down the first two times, appeal each time. The third time you get to meet before a judge that will usually be the deciding factor. Get you doctors to write letters in the meantime! ((((((Hugs))))) This is hard.....
