I started at 400mg my doc said it will either work or you will develop the stevens johnson syndrome rash I could tell there was an effect within two days and with abilify vithin a week I had a noteable change in my life completely Great stuff.

Lamictal has helped keep my moods stable. I noticed a difference in like the first week of starting it. I do worry about the rash. But so far so good.

I've been on it at two different times. I did so well on it the first time, it convinced me that I didn't need to be on it. Big mistake.

It started working on me right away, within the first couple of days.

The first time, I had to increase it a time or two to keep it working. At my highest dose, I took 200mg a day.

This time, I'm at 100mg and so far, it's doing the job!!!

Lamictal is awesome stuff. It's helped me tremendously - reduced the cycling. I take it in combination with trilafon and prozac. My dose is 300 mg a day, but I tapered up from 25 mg. It took a couple of months for me to get to the right dose.

Effexor was handling the depression that is my biggest and most significant BP symptom. As I approached the realization that I would be getting divorced for the 2nd time (only 1 year after the marriage), I asked my Pdoc about the "mood stabilizer" he'd mentioned. Back then I was not accepting the BP fully, just the depression part, because other than one mania upon my first divorce, I've never had mania before or since.

Lamictal is my miracle drug. As my Pdoc said, it lengthens the periods between depressions. I have not had any mania on it, but I think it is useful for that also.

My neighbor with BP had tried depakote and lithium and other drugs and he finds lamictal to be his miracle drug also.

BTW: I had a crushing depression in August, but my effexor was changed to cymbalta. I'm better now

yea strarted at 25 at 200mgs..it helps still up and down,,but not wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy down not even close..i cant get over 5 hrs sleep a night,,no matter what i do..

i felt it with in 2 weeks,,was good till you cant sleep..10% gets this..if you had sleep problems or not..been on it over 3 monthes only side effect sleep deprived..can make you maninc say 150 mgs for me..

i can see why its for deep deppreshion and not maninc...

i belive when your bp you realy never get your life back..cuz it comes and goes so much,,seems to me anyways..i hope you feel difft..yes theres always hope..lamctal if its for you,,it will help you alot..not 1 person with bp has the same symtoms..meaning you have highs and lows just not the same...lamctal makes me very irratable..and mean,,and etc...but to waive the DEEP DARK DEPPRESHION IT WORKES FOR THAT PURPOSE...good luck..

at first it was really great, I lost weight and was happy. then I noticed I was forgetting things a lot and losing things and just being generally ditzy. Then I had a mixed episode and was hospitalized. No more lamictal for me. It just didn't work that well in the long run. Now I'm on Trileptal & Celexa.
