did anybody get sent to a have a mental exam when they filed for disability?? does that mean anything for your case like "a good thing" or is that something they do everytime?? ty to all ((((hugs))))

Yes as far as I know everybody gets a mental examination.

I don't know if it varies from state to state but I never got sent for a mental exam. I had to answer some questions over the telephone and sign release forms to have my medical records released for review.

I'm clear up to an ALJ hearing and they haven't sent me to any docs...

My dad just got his and he got approved because the judge didn't want to work that day so she just approved them all, talk about lucky!

Here in Fl. they did. Sent me to one of theirs. I've been denied twice
and have an hearing coming up real soon with the new Video Screening Unit.. anyone gone to one of those yet? If so, tell me what it's like. Peace, feather

The video screening thing is kinda cool. The judge is on a big screen TV and where we were the rest of the room looked like a small courtroom. You could see yourself on a little screen in the corner. I had to go in and testify for my husband during his hearing. They told us that day he was approved.

I had to do the mental exam and I did not include BP in the reason for applying

I had to sign releases for all records and I had to go to a pdoc of their choice. I got mine on first try.

I never had one. But I had tons of paper and had been in a hospital twice one time for 17 days right before I applied for SSDI.
