IMO words are just words that need to be backed up by actions. Is there other ways he shows he loves you? I know a lot of men don't like shopping or buying gifts but I hope he is contributing to your household in some manner.

No he doesn't contribute financially I do it all.

I'm so sorry. Does he show appreciation for all you do? Does he help at all around the house? Go to the store for you? I'm really reaching here but it sounds like you need to have a serious discussion with him. Ofc I can't tell you how he feels but generally if people really care about you they do SOMETHING to show it out of love and respect. Do you have children together?

Love doesn't mean gifts or presents.

Loving someone, choosing to be there partner, means supporting them in all they do. When you love someone you support them mentally, physically, emotionally without question or prejudice...you give them unconditional love. If you are married to that person or live with that person, that includes sharing financial support equally, household chores equally, raising and caring for children equally....that is what "loving" someone is all about, being there for them and supporting them in all they do and all they are.

If your 'man' says he loves you but does absolutely nothing to back up that word, then its just a word.

You and your man clearly speak different "love languages." (Check out the book by Gary D. Chapman. Your love languages are "receiving gifts" and "acts of service." Are his languages "words of affirmation," "quality time" and/or "physical touch?" Couples that don't naturally speak the same languages can learn to understand and speak their partner's language so the needs of both are met. And then they live happily ever after.

But love isn't about "Things" - it's about being there when someone needs you, being a friend and being a support, smiling to help you feel better, or just plain hanging out. Love is the unspoken between two people - I don't think it can be defined. Hmmm.

I see you're very young and so I am guessing he is as well.... Unless he's a stay at home dad why isn't he out and working??

I would find that very disturbing and I wouldn't pay for him to sit on his butt ... Sorry if this sounds unsupportive but I don't get it other then really, really lazy again unless you guys are thriving financially??

Personally I have been in a similar situation and after three years ended it. He sat home while I worked 60-70 hours a week. I paid all the bills and and daily needs and he even made me do all of the house work. I think actions mean more than words and if he can't show he cares by helping with bills and household duties then maybe you shloud discuss it with him or move on. Just my opinion. Im sorry it isn't very supportive but I just remember how hard it was for me and how much it hurt me and I wish I had seen it sooner. Best of luck.

In my personal experience if you put in more effort than they do just leave I was with someone for almost 2 years who did nothing for me financially or emotionally to help me I would work while she sat on her ass staring at a laptop screen while I went to work and was still expected to help at home while getting bitched at at the same time my advice is to walk away it seems to me he is using you
