Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Hi! I haven't been on here in over a month and I just wanted to thank everyone for all of the hugs! I was thinking today about how lonely I feel sometimes when I'm going through all these ups and downs. I really can't talk to anyone in my family, they don't even know, except my one sister and she has so many physical problems herself that I don't feel like bringing it up to her. None of my friends know. My counselor today reaffirmed that I am bipolar. I'm in denial. I think that it's psychological and I try to contain myself but it doesn't work. I try to change but it is so hard! I feel guilty and ashamed. I think the medication may be working. I hope so. Can bipolar get worse without treatment It seems like I've gotten worse over the last 8 years. Well, thanks for listening! HUGS!!

Bipolar will definitely get worse without treatment. I've seen people develop untreatable brain damage due to that.

Get it all out and like Tommy said it will get much worse without treatment and meds and therapy and keeping appointments are so crucial to having a better quality of life, and having a p-doc you like and a therapist you like (((((HUGS))))) BTW I am new here and my name is Michelle :)

Just remember with bipolar the chemicals in the brain get out of whack. Medicine can help straighten that out. It's not your fault you are sick. It's a brain disorder, not a moral issue. You are a good person with an illness.

Thanks so much for your support. I have been on dilantin and it's strange because sometimes when I take it it makes me feel calmer but other times it makes me feel manic...or am I just manic. I don't know! I have addisons disease and am on cortef (a type of steroid) and that can alter mood too. I'm sick of my moods being so out of wack!

Big hug for you sweetie... It can certainly get worse without treatment... Acceptance is a huge gift to you Life... When you accept it you start to work with it as opposed to against it... Fighting against having something that you simply have is a grave injustice to you...xo

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.
