Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Favorite trick, is Do something during a commercial - I can do something for two minutes, that I can't imagine doing all day..
Very hard for me to wait it out - in fact, I cannot think of one time depression left me because of time, it was always effort or med change, usually both......
I just had a med change. I'm thinking about making myself do something but I don't know what. Has to be small or I'll never make it.
probably 75% of the time i force myself to do something.
I can't just wait it out. I end up hating on myself even worse.
So I force myself to keep chipping away. That's kinda silly too because I end up with a huge internal battle -- one force saying "Get off your butt. You got this" and the other force whining "But I don't want to, I don't feel like it, blah, blah, blah." Do internal, mental struggles burn calories. :)
Now I keep waiting for the VaVoom to come back.
I do force myself , and when I do, it does make me feel better .....it's just that first Jump Start, that is so hard
I can't really seem to force myself. I think it's cause there is so much to do I'm overwhelmed by it. Plus I'm waiting for that energy burst to come back that never comes.
I never use to have problems like this.
I'll try to do one more thing today. Maybe.
Just keep chipping away the best you can. Don't forget to acknowledge and praise yourself for whatever tasks you do. I am usually laser-focused on what lies ahead that I forget to give myself adequate kudos.
Kudos Door!
I tried to train these kids from the start to behave but they were impossible to train. They just weren't trainable. All that work and it just drained me. I've never been the same since.
Not that, that is an excuse I just don't know how to correct it.
When I have energy though cleaning is not a problem. The problem is I rarely have the energy to clean it.
Then, a few days ago, a storm knocked the power out for a couple of hours.
With no computer to play on and no TV to watch, I had nothing to occupy my time except cleaning.
I got more done in 2 hours than I usually do in a week.
So I can't whine anymore about people just not understanding that I have no motivation.
It turns out that I'm just addicted to electronic entertainment and/or am extremely lazy.
Realizing that has helped, somewhat.
I'm making myself do more and it doesn't seem too difficult to do.
Still mulling over what I must do about my addictions.
There's one exception to this. When I am very depressed, it's very, very hard to get going and to complete tasks.
And it's been a LONG, LONG time since I had one of those wonderful bursts of hypomania that cause me to fly around, taking care of business!!!!!
If you are talking about everyday chores, I rarely do them
Like dinner. If I don't cook it we starve or at least I do. So I force myself most nights.
It is way worst when I am depressed. Today Celexa is working. I also worship the god of Sloth with all my might.
In med changes it fucks it all up...and I have to wait till I am sufficiently allowably fucked up in another way. Groggy Groggy.
