Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Perhaps it Was the leader, and the way she taught it that made the difference for them....don't know.
Anyway, hope you can stick with it.

In the beginning it can seem arduous. It usually focuses on the more urgent impulses and emotions like suicidal ideation or self-injury. It has a progression and works through different problematic behaviors that may transpire in your life each week. That way you are working with direct situations. If you are doing this in a group setting then it will be structured more as a general lesson....
Depending on how long you have been taking it, they may be trying to "prime" you to be able to tune in to yourself and your emotions so you can recognize impulsive responses. Many of the behaviors or emotional responses we learned as a survival technique become such a habit that we need to be very in tune to ourselves (mindfulness) (living in the moment).....it helps us see things in progression.
I go to a skills group once a week and a therapist every two weeks. I go cos i have BPD though.
I have found it helpful but at the same time i hate Mindfullness and i can't get my head around it. I can do it in group for the monst part but can't do it at home, it's too difficult.
I'm wanting to quit my group right now, but probably shouldn't cos there's only 8 places for my whole city and i waited months to get in.
It difficult beyond belief to try and change the way you think.
I get more pissed off at the therapists that run the group cos they don't understand how hard it is for us. They are nice people but unless you have the disorder then you don't know anything in my opinion.
