So IRL I don't give hugs. I don't like to be touched, never have, so on the rare occasion that I HAVE to hug someone it makes me very very uncomfortable. Now I realize that I am uncomfortable giving cyber hugs... I don't think it's the sentiment that rubs me the wrong way..... just the implied touching. I have no issues with congratulating people or encouraging people or sympathizing but I just don't get why hugs are necessary. So I am giving someone a hug here and realize I am holding my breath just like I would IRL.. maybe I feel like a hypocrite knowing that I would never never in real life actually touch them.....

Anyone else or am I the only wierdo.

you're a total wierdo. haha, kidding. Lots of people don't hug. I only hug family and close friends. I avoid others as much as possible. I wouldn't deny a hug though. If it's coming at me, I'll do it so no one is offended.

i can understand not liking hugs IRL, but on here...well that seems a little extreme. maybe try to loosen up a bit? does that sound harsh?

I'm not crazy about hugs in real life. I give hugs in cyber space though. No there's nothing wrong with it.

Not harsh zsa... I know it's wierd... I didn't even realize I had an aversion to cyber hugs until today. I'll make it a point to hug a stranger everyday. :)

I don't have issues with the cyber hugs, but I do have issues with hugs IRL. My sister hugged me when I saw her at lunch today and I was weirded out.

As for around here, I see it more as a statement of support than an actual hug. I can understand why it would bug you though.

Do you want people to stop giving you hugs? I might not remember but I can send other things if that will make you feel better.

i don't think it's weird to want to avoid physical contact, i am sometimes weirded out by people wanting to hug me, but have learned to get over it, but i love cyber hugs, like Kat, i see them as a sign of support

Your comfort zone is very important.. do what you feel comfortable with sweetie.. Im one of those gushy people haha.. I am a hugger but Ive not had anything give me an aversion to it.. if you dont like to hug then dont.. I wouldnt ..x

I'm the type of person who sometimes needs a hug. I only hug friends and people I am comfortable with. I don't think you're a freak at all, lots of people don't like hugs IRL although I personally don't see cyber hugs as the same, each to their own though :)

I am not a touchy feely kinda person eith. In real life I don't do hugs and actually step back when I get then even from my mom, she likes to hug, Cyber wise I don't find anything wrong with giving a hug or two for me it is my way of staying close to someone or catching up with them not on the boards. I could see where you would not want to do one ot the other.

I respect that even so I think you may be overreacting just a bit, but you are not a weirdo. Hugs are personal and at first I found the cyperhugging a bit uncomfortable, but now I really appreciate it - it's a friendly exchange, a word of encouragement, caring, inclusion, even if its from a stranger - we all have at least one thing in common.

I would give you a hug, but I don't want you to turn blue as you hold your breath.
