I lost my mum 6 months ago tomorrow. Somedays I think I am doing pretty good, and others, not even close.
I spent 7 years as a paramedic and feel such guilt that I couldn't save my mum. Her death was a freak accident and not caused by any of her health issues....but I just feel horrible I wasn't there for her....except to pronounce her death at the hospital to my dad and my family.
I have tried grief therapy and don't find it helpful. I have tried talking with people but then all I do is cry all the time and that isn't what my mum would want....so why doesn't she take this pain away? I would give my entire world to be with her...it seems like I am taking it the hardest or at least my sister has way better coping skills than I have...
She came to me in a dream, she was packing a bag to leave and I was begging her not to leave or to take me with her...she told me she just wanted to be alone for awhile. I miss her so much. She took my heart with her when she left me.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I lost my mom in March and dad in April of this year. An overwhelming loss.
I find it helpful to sit quietly and listen to them. I feel they are close, within my heart. I find it helpful to feel them in my heart and therefore carry them with me everywhere.
I try and do things that they would have wanted me to do, and I talk with them, sometimes out loud, sometimes to myself.
I find the love, the connection, the bond, is still there. I miss them. But I just know they are finally at peace.
I miss my mom every day and it's been 7 years.....Survivors guilt is quite a common phenomenon ... If you think that you've gone into a depression I would suggest that you see your doctor... Grief can trigger depression for some of us
I found the Serenity Prayer as helpful as anything... The concept of it.. If you have a faith it may be a good time to turn to it mums... And regarding you saving her... I think you need to let yourself off of the hook ... It was her time and that isn't something that you would have any control over.. It was completely out of your hands sweetie... Gentle hug for you and a blessing...xo
It gets easier when the worst of grief has ended. That's when grief comes to visit only on special occasions. After that, the memories are no longer bittersweet, but more of an immense appreciation for being present in your life, the love and every contribution to who you are and will become.
As unbelievable as it sounds, you will learn a great many things from your loss that will help you develop into the person you were meant to be. I was so angry the first few years, I thought it was a load of crap. As time went on I resolved my grief issues - the anger as well as adjusted to life without my beloved I became the person I had always dreamt of being. It came at a great cost, but it is what needed to happen for to me continue living and being productive.
Be easy on yourself, try not to rush through grief because it will catch up to you even years later.
Best wishes.
