Time to let your phone do the filtering. No need to answer the phone when you are making dinner! Let it go to a message and then either return the call or not.
At your convenience!!!
So by all means vent away!
By that time, the call was already connected, so I really didn't have a choice but to speak with her. I thought it was going to be a quick, "Hello! Oh, are you busy?" type call. I just didn't expect to be interrogated on my parenting choices, much less criticized and reamed out over it.
I hate to say this, but if my grandma is going to be that racist and prejudice towards my children learning Spanish (or any other language, for that matter) than I guess we should keep communication to a minimum.
And this isn't the first she's done something like this, but this is by far, the worst.
Does she speak Spanish? I guess if the kids are speaking Spanish around her and she don't know what they are saying then she's probably getting annoyed.
Vent away! We don't blame you.
I'm sorry you're dealing with that, but as a fellow South Floridian, you are doing the absolute best thing! I wish more than anything I could speak Spanish! My family was disappointed that my brothers ex-wife decided not to teach Spanish to their son! I understand enough but I can't speak it anymore beyond basic conversational things. Raise your children as you see fit. Sending hugs because well I know how much this hurt.
you're doing the right thing teaching your children Spanish :)
