My only child died on April 6, 2010. Today would have been her 30th birthday. It was so unexpected; she went into the emergency room on April 2 with an asthma attack and died several days later of a severe brain injury due to being deprived of oxygen for too long. The only blessing in all of this is that she was an organ donor and five other people are alive today due to her decision.
Thank you so much for providing me with a place to talk about my baby. I see that so many of you have been through your own tragedies and I feel that this will be a soft place for me to land.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

I hope you find peace and I hope you know how special you are to her and what a priviledge it is being an only child. I hope she's watching over you still loving you everyday

Your loss is so recent, you must be feeling lost right now. My suggestions...cry as much as you can, crying eases the pain. Feeling angry, guilty...are all normal.
I lost my mom this February. I am also an only child and my 30th b'day is in a month. I can't even begin to imagine what my mom would have done, had I died instead of her.
My thoughts and prayers are with you through this difficult time. Wish you some peace...take care
I got a call from my former boss today (she had to let me go because I needed the time off to be at the hospital with my daughter) and she was chatting away as if I had been away on vacation for a couple of weeks. She never mentioned Sarah by name or asked about anything that we had been through.
