People today can be very cruel. If you backslide in Jimmy Swaggarts church...well..let me tell you this...they dont treat you nice.I am being shunned now. That means the pastors have told people not to talk or associate with me because of my sins. They are forbidden to see or talk to me because of the disagreement i had with the one of the main pastors.I did contact one of the pastors and he wasnt so nice.He told me that I deserved this because i deserted The Lord and that not to cry over Brad because Brad is in Hell.He also told me that drunks like Brad will burn and i along with him and told me of the the 15% to the church for admends or else dont come back.I cant give 15%..I cant be at church all the time.I just cant.I have got a house and 2 cats who are getting to be stinky. If Brad is in hell..I feel sorry for him because Brad never liked the heat nor cold.He was always cold...he had cold feet even in the winter and I was told that all suicides go to hell and people who talk to the homeless like I do will go to.So I told the pastor....I would rather go to hell because i want to be among some of the greatest people in literary.Lets see. There is Oscar Wilde...there is Plato and not to mention Socrates. But when they tell you not to come back..it hurts and the pastor was right...noone wants to see me as of now and maybe Brads death is my fault and i will spend the rest of my life trying to make amends..but idont want to got to hell and I am afraid not to sleep at night.Did I deserve this? ALl I did was ask Brad if he had the months of Junes rent.ANd he did...he gave me an envelope of rent money and I have resources for at least a few months and I am not afraid anymore.vader.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

They do not have the right to tell you to give 15% or don't come back. They are not following brotherly love as Christians are supposed to. Jesus says we are to love one another and one of the marks of a Christian is that they love the brethren.
Swaggart would rather sell his books, live in his multimillion dollar house and dictate to you how you should live. I'm sorry but, I don't put too much faith into anything Swaggart says.
There are many churches that would embrace you and show you much love and compassion, and be a support to you through these hard times, not use you and manipulate you at such a hard moment in your life to extort money and make you feel worse. God and Jesus dont care about money, that only matters to the church. God is with you, he does not reside in the church, he resides with each one of us. We all can have a personal relationship with God
Take care of yourself, you are worth it.

I agree with widowat39 - God loves all of us. That\'s why He sent Jesus, because He loves us. And because He wants us in His heavenly home with Him. I\'d add that we are called upon to love others. I believe that if we do that then we will go to heaven. Jesus\' central message was about love of God and love of neighbour for a reason.
And where is the love of these "Christians" who\'re treating you so badly.
Hang in vader, you know that Brad is with our Father now and that one day you will be too! And no mere human can tell you any different.

I am thinking of finding another church and it will be soon as I am in the first stage of grief and right now..I still cant believe this.
I am Roman Catholic myself (no anti-Catholic remarks from anyone, please), and my church no longer puts the stigma on suicide that it used to (in the old days of the church, not enough was understood about emotional/psychological problems---suicide was then seen as merely a moral weakness). There are now even special prayers for the souls of people who killed themselves. A very good book by Fr. Benedict Groeschel, "Arise From Darkness", has a prayer for someone who has committed suicide.
vader, those people in church need to understand that only God can judge the human heart, and He cares deeply when that heart is filled with pain. Who can be sure of what went on in Brad\'s soul between him and God at the last moments of life? Only the Lord can judge, and if He judged us the way we judge each other, this world would\'ve blown up decades ago.
Also, who can say that Plato, Socrates or Oscar Wilde are in Hell? Again, only God can judge.
You are in no way responsible for what happened, and don\'t let those awful people make you feel that way.
Vader, I will message you a link to a grief support site for suicide survivors. And I would urge you to seek out other churches until you can find one with compassionate, understanding people. In the meantime, my prayers are with you and for the repose of Brad\'s soul. God bless you.
