I haven't been on in awhile, but just need to vent....
My boss hired his fiance (she was only his long-term girlfriend at the time of hire) as the project manager for a remodeling project the building took over. She has filled in for me for maternity leave in the past, so she is familiar with the building and the residents, and has retail management experience. In the beginning, she was very good about sticking to her own stuff. Now she is getting involved in everyone's jobs and acting like she's the boss, again.
It's been a very slow day, since my boss is out of the office today. There is nothing for me to work on, so I've been taking a few extra breaks than usual just to step out front. I'm only doing what the boss usually does when he's here, which is check on the employees and the activity out front. He never has a problem with me stepping out of the office. Well, today she went out to Receiving (where contractors check in for the day), and she asked the clerk why am I out there so much, and went ballistic that I'm even out there in the first place. She said that she can't do my job and hers, which I don't understand since 1) there's nothing for me to do today, and 2) she can't even handle her own work. I've even done the part-timer's work, since it's so dead.
This remodel project was only supposed to be until March, but due to weather, it looks more like April or May. This isn't the first time she's overstepped her duties either. She's involved herself in everyone else's positions/duties before, but yet, they keep approving her to come back. It doesn't help that she is very two-faced. She criticizes me and b**ches to others about me, but yet is all sweet and polite when we're both in the office, despite me taking time out of MY duties to help HER by printing all her paperwork for HER job.
I've considered finding another job, but I'm comfortable here, make a decent wage, have 100% covered healthcare and other benefits. I keep telling myself it's only temporary, but my children are the ones who are suffering from all the BS from work.
And I do admit that I take a few extra breaks here and there, but I try to balance it out by only taking just enough time to eat lunch. I never take my full lunch break. And when I do step out for a short "break," I take the mail out or paperwork for the Front Desk, so I'm essentially still working. But what irritates me the most about her is that she SEES I'm having a hard time concentrating on things or that I'm easily distracted or overwhelmed, but hasn't even said a word about my mother's passing. When her dog died, I bought her a small arrangement of roses and a sympathy card.
And the funny thing is, the co-workers who drive me the most crazy and are constantly needing babysitting or hand holding have least sent their condolences.

Once you see how he acts, then you can make your choices.

If she is temporary, then wait her out, even if it is until April. At least she will be leaving. The thing is she might pop up anytime for any replacement since she's the fiance and has experience working there. That could get old. I hate my job and always understand when someone wants to leave theirs. You can start casually job searching and see what is out there. That won't hurt.
I'd do very little to help her too. Like, I wouldn't go out of my way to do anything for her, but I'd make sure all my work was done. She does not appreciate your help anyway.
And vent anytime. I know how it feels to need to vent and have no one to do it to.
