To all you wonderful people at DS i want to thank you for all of your kind advice during these past 8 months..I am trying to get my life together.I ahve put in my allications to 7 different places.I sianged up to be an Avon saleswoman and I signed up to be a Mystery Shopper.I am trying to forget.Can a person forget when someone commits suicide? First of all...I found Brads body.He was on the grass.He was DOA when I found him and I held him in my arms ,,as he expired.He left me no note.He was joking with me the night before and now I am swamped with bills and collection agencies galore.Brads sister is helping me with this.In Washington...they dont recognize common law marriages.We were togther for 12 and half years and if I didnt save all of the vacation money,I would be penniless.I have been working seasonal jobs since 2002.I havent had much since he died.As for me...the trauma of finding Brad I cant seem to escape.I keep dreaming of it.He left me no money and no will and no note.My name isnt on his life insurance,because he cancelled it.My name isnt on the savings account....he only had a few dollars in there and the undertakes needed the money..it cost Gayle and Brads brothers 3600 to bury him.And if anyone wants to completate suicide...please dont..Brad has left me,gayle and his brothers to clean up his mess.This isnt fair and I am angry.It appears that Brad never did love me at all because he failed to make provisions for me.My heart is broken...what shall I do? And i will never stop loving him that s true and let me say this...no one has an answer to why people take their own lives...Brad hinted at it and 2 months ago,I stopped him.What shall i do about Brads bills? A bill collector told me that in the state of Washington a person isnt resposilbe for another persons bills,only in cases like if you are in a nursing home or such...I havent called these people back.I am too upset to talk on the phone.What would you say?

You need to be concered about your self. I hope that does not come off cold. It does not sound like you are responsible for his bills.
But you probably do need to let the bill collectors know that Brad is gone. Otherwise they will keep calling you.
Good luck with your Avon Job. The mystery shopper sounds like that maybe fun. I think it is good for you to get out and about.
Good luck with your other job searches. I have been off for 1 year. I know it is a tuff job market all over.

is to your advantage. All of his bills and debt, unless they were joint accounts, are his responsiblity. They cannot affect YOUR credit for something he purchased and didnt pay for.
Whoever is or was his power of attourney, is responnsible for that. If there isnt one, its not your problem.
Unpaid, things that are joint... are the only thing that will affect your credit and medical bills usually have no bearing .
Tell them when they call that you are reqestinhg for them to please stop calling and mail them a letter stating that you wish all communicaion to now be in writing.
It will cut down on the phone calls a lot.
