I had been doing well with grief lately considering my dad passed only a month ago. It honestly surprised and confused me. I wasn't sure if this was it for my grieving? Did I just accept it? Was I in denial or avoiding it? I couldn't imagine the holidays without my dad, but I was starting to get used to the idea of Thanksgiving without him.
Now it's all hitting me today. As I went shopping today for Thanksgiving all I could think of was my dad. It's just not right without him here. I hate that life has to go on. I also thought I heard my dad today (see my other thread) and I so desperately wish it was him.
I watch General Hospital and I wanted to avoid it because they were killing off a character my dad's age. I ended up watching it and it was painful because the character's final moments reminded me of my dad. Watching his daughter at his bed side crying and screaming for him not to go reminded me of what I went through.
All of this has reopened the wound and I feel like I am back at square one at least for today. I just want my dad back.

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

This pain never completely goes away for me, and it's been almost 6 years, but it's good that it's there, because it reminds me what's important in life, and that's people (!). When I lose that sense of priority, pain is the way of coming back to it, putting my heart back in the right place.
It's good that you still feel! You're not numb! Rejoice!
I feel like it has changed me a lot and definitely made me more empathetic.
