On July 29, 2016 I suddenly lost my beloved dog who was my best friend for the last 14 years. Then, 3 months later on Sept 24, 2016 I suddenly lost my mother. She was only 61, had dementia, and she choked to death in the nursing home on something she shouldn't have been given. As if this wasn't bad enough, then my husband's best friend, who was also a friend of mine, suddenly passed away on Dec 29, 2016, he was only 32. I'm finding myself unable to keep up with all the death and sadness around me. I'm so lonely without my dog, how my mother died has truly traumatized me and I'm so angry at the nursing home (going to pursue legal action) and my friend that died was just such an amazing person and no one seems to know how he died... I've tried seeing a therapist but it doesn't seem to really help. Many have suggested I start up medication, but unfortunately my body is too sensitive to meds and the side effects often create more problems than the med is doing to help. I don't know what to do anymore. Last year was full of many other stressors - a major surgery that put me out for 2 months, buying a house, changing jobs (and unfortunately I am very unhappy with this job), my husband changed jobs, we got a new dog (of course he's nothing like the one I lost...), and then my husband had an unexpected surgery. All of these stresses with all of these deaths is just too much to bare... thought I'd give this online support a try hoping someone out there has some ideas for me... thanks to all who read this.

I recently suffered a terrible loss and just found this group. I wanted to mention a few things. First, I am so sorry for all of the losses you have suffered. 1 is hard enough without needing to deal with multiple.
Reaching out to groups is helpful. Try local ones as well. As for your dog. I work in the animal medical field. No other dog will ever replace the love you shared with your last pet.
Love is always different. That's why it's so great.
So sorry.
Kassy
I lost both of my parents and my dog within a couple of years as well as 2 moves and I was completely overwhelmed
Therapy is a process and will take time... As well as grief is a process and a painful one to get through
You've had so many changes that are huge... moving, job change etc.... These are all such big life altering changes as well as both yours and your husbands health
I would give therapy a good chance..... There is grief therapy as well...... or groups that may be a good support for you for grief
If you're struggling with anxiety or depression there are really good and active boards here for both...
I wouldn't rule out therapy without giving it a good shot or medication if this is something that your doctor recommends?
Both of these things won't solve the difficult times you're going through however they can be really helpful with coping
Another hug for you and a blessing.....xo
