Does it ever not hurt? In my case, no. I still cry. And that's OK.
This is going to take some time. Please be patient with YOURSELF. Anger is normal.
Everyone grieves differently. There is no "right or wrong".
Hang in there. It won't always hurt as badly as it does now.
I will never forget one fight in particular - I was 25 at the time and married but my kids were picked up from daycare by my sister K. until I could get them when I got home from work.
It started - as it usually did - with my brother finding fault with something my sister did. Those two NEVER liked one another (there are 7 of us). First it was "That's not the way to cook chicken", progressed on to "that's not the way you do the dishes" and ended with things being thrown, including a vacuum cleaner down the stairs from the second floor while my niece and daughters hid in a shower.
It got a lot worse before it got better, but it did get better.
He was always out drinking every night.
He really got crazy.
