I have been friends with Sandi since 1990.I met her when I was a fitting room matron in JC Penney back in New Jersey. She has a lot of fun and we used to do things together..but now the friendship is nearly over. Why am I going to call it quits? Well,Sandi does not know how to have a good conversation. She does not read books nor any magazines and I doubt if she has ordered from any catalogs.SHe took care of her mother and father and now this is all that she talks about. All she and another girl Irene back in New Jersey talk about is illness. They didnt even know about the crisis and I dont blame that they care.To constantly hear about doctors and tests is not all conversation. It is just complete boredome and I can see why some people dont want to call her.The last time that we talked all she talked about is the latest test and you know this is justn getting boring and I do feel sorry for her.Can we all stop this talk about illness? Cant we talk about other things? Lets try to become more interesting and lets try to read more.Lets try to make people understand that books and magazines are not threats but they are a way to start good conversations and make friendships.Guess what? Brad saw a recipe on Martha Stewart and he wanted me to make it.First of all let me say this all of the stuff in this soup was very expensive.I came home and I made this soup. And guess what? It didnt come out like the one on tv.In fact..the soup was salty and watery and I had to throw it out.I dont want to end my friendship..but Sandi,Irene and Brad and I are growing apart and there is just no need for me to continue these friendships because they are draining me.Lets talk nice, okay? Lets talk sense? And lets not talk about husbands and kids? Is there anyone who wants to talk about the crisis and what is happening to you? Cant we all just try and be friends and listen? Or are we so caught up in Oprah that we have lost our sense of talk and values?

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Im sorry to see a friendship sour, especially after so long.. but I will say this..
Caring for a sick family member is a difficult job.. and can become YOUR LIFE sometimes.
I think these fourms are to support one another and lift each other up..
NOT Tear each other down with our words.
We are ALL hurting in one way or another..
and are here to support each other..
I have to go back to what my mom told me when I was 5.. if you dont have anything nice to say.. you probably shouldnt say it at all.. and find a more constructive outlet for venting..
Perhaps there are other groups that can satisfy your need for conversation. For example, my oldest daughter, 28 and married, is concerned about me being alone. Saturday was the day Sue and I rested, prayed, ate pizza or Philly steak sandwiches, and discussed our ministries and their progress. I learned that a new DVD is available at www.space-shuttle-mission.com. It's a photorealistic NASA shuttle craft game that actually teaches how to fly the shuttle. It includes a downloadable 1100 (eleven hundred) page flight manual! I decided to occupy Saturday afternoon this winter just having fun with that DVD. If it actually does occupy my time, then I shall look for another support group - or start one - related to computer flying. But I know that I will miss being able to say, "Sue, would you look at that!"
