there is something that i needed to know maybe someone meant can help when some one is removed from life support and the machine flat lines does that mean the person is gone or the machine is just disconnected i know that sounds crazy but the reason why i am questioning this is because after i seen that i seen a tear drop on the left side of his cheek and about 2 minutes after that it look like his stomach was moving i want to get the nurse when i seen the tear drop she came back in the room to this day it puzzles me because the docters said he was brain dead i have been tring to leave this in god s hands but i still feel something is not right what should i do i tried getting the matter taken care of by a lawyer but the first thing they ask is are you the power of attorney i do have all the medical records but what can i do

From what the doctors explained to me about the process: When my mom was removed from life support, the monitors were left on (the heart monitor). when the lines go flat, that means their heart has stopped beating. The doctors use that measure for calling death. However, it may take a little longer for the entire body to finally shut down. think of a person who has a heart attack, and their heart stops beating for a few moments and then starts again.
The persons body can also go through other movements, such as muscle twinges, releases of bodily functions, you name it.
I know it is so hard to watch a loved one go. That tear was a beautiful gift to you. It does not mean that he was not catastrophically brain damaged beyond the point of being alive and functioning ever again.
