Your right, you do need to be there for your son, you need to be there for each other, I can't imagine this is easy for him either, especially if he's 11 he's old enough to know what's going on and where his dad is.
Are you familiar with the "Footprints in the Sand" poem? This is the part in the poem where God is carrying you... through your rough parts in your life.
I just lost my grandma last Friday... so I'm kinda in the same place.
It's not a husband... but my grandma is one of my best friends, it's like having a limb cut off or air supply cut off isn't it?
I don't know what I would do without my relationship with God or knowing that my Grandma is in Heaven with Jesus right now and is completely healed of Parkinson's, she will never have to use a wheelchair ever again, she can walk on her own now and never have to take medicine. That gets me through the days where I miss her now... because I'd rather her be completely healed in heaven then here suffering. It's one day at a time hun.

You take one day at a time, and you give yourself permission to grieve. I lost my dad 3 months ago, and I see the pain my mother is going through. So many times I have asked her what I could do to help her, and she always tells me to just let her cry. She and my dad were married 55 years and she tells me that you cannot cut away half of yourself and get over it in a few months. It takes time.

Grief is a process and every individual is different. People who have not gone through the pain of losing a love one do not realize that you not only go through emotional pain, but you also go through physical pain. Sadly, this too is part of the healing process.

Your son also needs his healing time. I pray you and your son will find the peace and confort that you seek, and I pray God will Bless you both.

I read your prof, and you've had a lot of losses in a short time. All, deeply loved people. You are most likely grieving all of them along with your husband. Sadly, the more losses we deal with the deeper the pain, and time can only lessen it. You and your son have each other, and you can help one another. Does his school have grief counselling services? I know exactly how you feel. At this point I am not sure how to move forward, but I know that our husbands would want us to. I do know what 7you are speaking of because grief is an emptiness that can seem like an endless abyss. My daughter died 3 months ago this month. While I am back to work it takes everything I have to make it through work day-day. I camoe home feeling drained, exhausted and dead of all emotions. While I am trying to maintain a presence with my family and husband it is very hard. Grief is a journey that we each take and in time find a way to honor the life our loved one. For today be thankful for making it through one day at a time.

Theres nothing one can really say when this happens. I lost my partner 12 years ago and i still miss him soooo much. My daughter is 11 too and i live for her, i hide my grief and have had 2 relationships since. But nobody will ever take his place so im going it alone just me and my little angel. It is so hard to deal with a childs needs when we are in so much pain ourselves. I am not sure when your husband died? The only thing I can tell you is to talk to your son , share with him how you feel, let him know that you are in this together.

Hello I am sort of in the same situation. My husband died on June 10 after being removed from life support. He had sudden cardaic death at age 33 on May18 we have 2 children together our son is 11 and our daughter is 15 with special needs. We just buried my husband on friday. Me and him have been together for 19 years since we were 13 and he was 14. I do not know what to do with myself I havent really taken care of anything since coming home on monday he came home to pass with help from hospice. My son is so angry and I cant seemed to do anything right for him. If anyone has any help Id like some too. I miss my husband so very much and I have never beeen an adult without him, sometimes I just wanna die too so I can be with him but I know I need to take care of my kids. I love them deeply but Im lost I miss Larry touch, his voice the way he laughs. I am getting so lonely because he never regained conciousness since May18 because he was brain dead. I went and sat at the cemetary today and cried and feel like Id like to go back there.I hope you can find your strength for your son and I wish you well. I know Im not doing well yet and proably never will.

Hi, I lost my husband Sept. 20, 2007 to cancer, he was my soulmate. It seems like every holiday that could come jut kept coming & trying to put on a fake smile seemed to be the thing to do. We have 5 children & 3 grandchildren, but 4 of them are actually step children but they are mine. The two oldest girls don't won't anything to do w/me since their dad died & the 3 youngest are really a support. Today I think I have concentrated on them more today than myself, even though I'M DYING INSIDE, my HEART is SO EMPTY!!! All our children are grown & spread all over the US. But what I find hard is knowing my husband would want me to be happy & move on!!! I figured out why I don't go out of the house much & go shopping or anything fun is I have a great time & THEN COMING HOME I CRY ALL THE WAY!!! Do you every find yourself doing that? I think having a child would help but then again you know that you will be Mother & Father & I can't imagine how you feel.

I just lost my fiance on May 28th. I only was blessed to know Dave for 22 months but I too thought we would grow old together. I too feel like my heart has been ripped from my chest. I never want anyone else. If you would like to message me, maybe we can help each other through this.

Have you considered going on a trip or maybe a weekend getaway with your son. Some time alone for the two of you to bond or just getaway. Maybe the two of you can start a scrap book together of your favorite memories of the love of your life. I'm so sorry for your loss.
