Just wondering how others made it through Thanksgiving. For me, this was the first one without my dad so I was kind of sad about that. But then, I had to deal with my husband being a butthead (to put it nicely) in the morning. In the aftnoon, we go over to my sister-in-law's house for dinner where I hear nothing but juvenile tattle-tailing from my 7 year old nephew about my 6 year old son. At this point it gets to be a bit much emotionally. But what's strange to me is that I was really sad and teary-eyed on Saturday and Sunday. Maybe it's because we are now in the heart of the holiday season and all I can think about is my dad. I'm still going through my dad's belongings and managed to donate a ton of books to the public library where he went for many years. What's also hard for me is that my 6 year old son is constantly begging me to bring out the Christmas decorations when I am so uninterested in doing so. I just want to get the holidays over with.
Thanks for asking! How kind! Oh, the loss of you dad is a damper on the holidays, for sure. But, what would he say to you right now? He would say, Bridget, I want you to keep on moving on. I am with the Lord, and we all are having a blast! I want you, my girl, to do so as well.
Bridget, sweet one, life is rough on our emotions when loved ones are missing at the holidays; however the joy is in Christs redeeming power, and this season approaching is to celebrate your dads salvation. Jesus purchased him by His precious gift of unselfish love. Honey, your dad is fine with the Lord. You have a sweet 6 year old grandchild of your dads wanting and looking forward to celebrate life at Christmas time with joy and splendor. Honey, you have the power to be happy and rejoice with your son. For Christ lives and so will your dad when Christ returns to this earth with His saints. Put up those decorations, bring out the lights, and be of great joy with your little son during this special season. God bless you, Bridget!
By the way, I burned two of my favorite pies on Thanksgiving Day. Not so bad though. I forgot to adjust the temperature for glass pie plates. I usually use aluminum, but glass ones seem so much prettier at the table setting. The pies lasted about as long as a perfect one would have. So, the folks enjoyed while I learned, lol! ;)
