I say do what you want. I take things to the cemetary for all holidays. Who really cares what others think? It is what you think that matters. Hugs to you.

i think if it helps you to deal with the upcoming holiday and is something you want to do then do it and dont worry about anyone but you at this time

Isn't his resting place really a place that is personal? So if people have any problems with what you feel comfortable with then they need to keep walking to the person they are going there to pay their respects for. My grandfather's family is jewish and in the jewish culture you're not supposed to take flowers to a grave because they say flowers are for the living, but my great grandmother LOVES flowers so when I went to the cemetary I brought her some. It's between me and her, no one else. Just like Nickolus's sacred place, what you do there is for him, no one else. Do what is healing for you and what you think would make him smile.

I agree with everyone else. If it helps you, do it! You are the one that goes there to pay your respects and show your love and if that is the way you show love, then, so be it. You do whatever makes you feel better about your loss and the visit to his last place on this earth. You decorate or not, you do whatever you feel is a good jesture from your heart to his. That's my take on this.

Do what you want!!! I would decorate on my mom's and brother's grave this halloween but they're buried in Missouri... and I'm in Pennsylvania.

I've always decorated fro every Holiday..In fact I put my Pumpkin & Ghost out there last week..I have a seasonal flag that I put up & of course now that it's Football season,My son's dad has an artificial flower arrangement made to look like a football in the colors of Phila EAGLES.U should check w/the cemetary 1st..Some Catholic Cemetarys don't allow decorations,plantings or pictures & only flat stones ..I couldn't deal w/all those rules ..Do what brings YOU comfort..Love & Hugs,EDITH

I think it's fine. Remember Halloween is the traditional night when one's ancestors on the Other Side can come through and demand that you fix them dinner. That is the perfect time to acknowledge your love for those who have passed over.

I go to my brotehrs grave rarely, it hurts me too much. But we made it what we want it to be. Not a patch of grass and a gloomy black headstone like all the other graves there.
Large white stones around it, and small white pebles in the ring. Every time someone goes we bring a rose plant, eventually it will be just one big field of roses...
When I go on holiday I get him a souvenier still. Last was a butterly on a long stick. The wings move with the wind.
It's the grave you see first as you walk through the gates and it takes my breath away, every time.

I decorate my sons site every holiday. Flowers for each season. I got permission from the management that I could place and did place a John Deere bench by him - he had plans to be a farmer like his daddy. The bench is some place I can go and sit to talk to him. This is your personal space - as long as it's tasteful - go for it.

at the cemetary where gavin is you would be surprise what has been left there. several graves down from him on a fresh grave (still have the flowers from the funeral it) was an empty beer bottle. like someone had one last one with an old friend. we put a real pumpkin with a painted face on gavin last year. if you look at the pics on my page you will see that we have put a little bit of everything on him. do what makes you happy.

if this was a good time you had with your loved one while they walked here with you then by all means do this!! i think he will see this and smile about it, that he wasnt left out:) where my father is they remove stuff after 3 to 5 days, that includes flowers, plants and the flag, he is in the national cemetary 1 1/2 hours drive from my home, but i still take things out there knowing they will be taken out of there, there isn't even grass where he is and the spacing is very small, still i take stuff out there..i think that this is such a loving gesture to make him part of the festivities, you keep doing this if it makes you feel better and to heck with what others say...right now its about you and how you feel, if it makes you able to deal with things better then this is what you must do, living with i shoulda coulda's is hard enough already, you don't have to deal with them or explain why you need to do what your doing, you need to do what you need to do to help yourself:) this is something and someway you need to share with him...good girl!!!
