Next friday will be one year since dad died.  This Sunday, 2 days from "now", we scatter his and mom's ashes at sea.

My thoughts are with you PepperMan. One year goes by so quickly and so slowly .... may God give you strength and peace in your heart. I went with my pastor to scatter dad's ashes at the cemetery one week before Christmas under a pine tree - because like my dad who lives forever in heaven, my love for him will never die. I have not had the courage to go by myself to visit the spot again - maybe one day I will ...

I guess the vagueness of "at sea" means I never have to visit the spot where we spread the ashes.

I like that, and it does honor my parent's wishes.

Funny thing, when I went with dad to pick up mom's ashes he waited until they were brought out to tell me that he expected me to take them, and to keep them until he passed, and THEN spread them at sea.

A little warning would have been good dad, but I know it was very hard for him, so I can't really fault him for the way he told me.
