One of my pet peeves is the guests on all these talk shows. Some of them are ordinary people whom life has dealt real tragedy and some are some of the very rich and famous. But there is something I want to say....what do they mean when they say to talk about your personal problems with a close friend? What do they mean? My friends in seattle are weird...You see they are all retired and now that they are retired...they want to travel and hear about happy things all the time. One of my friends who retired now is always going to these silly parties and drinking.but when I try to talk about Brad she will say..."lets talk about something else.Thats too depressing." Now what does that mean? What kind of person ignores a person whom is in very deep mourning? I am in very deep mourning for Brad and my heart is in so much pain. What can I say about a 49 year old man who committed suicide? Well...we were together for 12 years and he did have a drinking problem and he had a drug problem but Brad never talked about his problems. He denied them.To deny your problems and not talk is wrong.Men should cry and they should yell and they should keep journals. They should tell the partner just how they feel.I did not know that Brad was depressed.I tried during his last days of life to get him into rehab.I tried. And I have failed.I have failed.SOme when people tell me that there is help available and that is true....it is what
you do before to get this help.To deny feelings and drink yourself in a stew like Brad did is self medicating and this is one of the messages that is being portrayed in the media especially these rock videos.Like I said help is available..But you must be able to accept and to accept the other person and get help and if you cant talk about your problems then I will always try Daily Strength because I get better advice then I do in all of my support groups and so my friends...the next time you are on a cruise and you are drinking a mai tai and you are complaining about the price of the cruise remember that there are people who cant afford to travel such as myself and people who are in pain such as myself and lets treat them as human beings instead of a pariah.vader and Kramer...(the remaining cat)

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I feel you. My husband was 52 years old and died suddently of a massive stroke 3 weeks ago. I think people don't really know what to say sometimes. There's the group that just wants you to get over it and then there's the group with all of the "only God knows" advice. Right now all I can do is greive and mourn. My husband was a good man and I miss him dearly. I don't even want to be around people who don't want me to acknowledge my grief. I'm sorry to hear about Brad. You have every right to your grief..
We often see bumper stickers here saying: "When days are dark, friends are few." The person who concocted that knew a thing or two.
I hope that us at DS being here just helps you to blow off steam but I know that you want a real live friend, somebody who can really be warm and kind and nice and help you over the horrible awful time in your life.
All love,
O
It is a rude awakening when you have been a great friend to someone then see that they don't really care about you, they only care about themselves, I was just something to do while they were between lovers... or I was just a good friend until I said no to their advances,,
I have met more wonderful people on DS than I have in real life in the last few years, I just thank God that you all are here, that you care, understand, will listen, give loving, supportive advice and check on me when you havent heard from me in awhile, Thank you to all my great friends on here, I am not sure I could have made it through the last two months without you all.
Just keep being your wonderful selves, don't change just because they are pitiful, you will find good friends by being a good friend,
Blessings,
Cynthia
