Well I did the stone-setting ceremony for my Mom (traditionally a year or so after the death.) Just small, and it was exactly what I wanted to do for her and needed to do for me.
It was a ritual to affirm my moving on from my siblings' abandonment of me and to move on. I felt that I was talking to Mom (and I feel that she's ever in my heart), I said that I did what I could but I now need to follow a healthy path separate from the siblings' toxicity.
I get it in my head, and I can't expect the ceremony to heal me any faster than the process takes.
The siblings are doing their own big theatrical one in a few weeks, I was berated into attending and I refused. I won't be part of a sham effort to show that we're united as a family and they've been a constructive force. In fact they haven't done anything to help, just sat on the sidelines and are still trying to poke holes in my service as executrix of the estate. Those actions feel like the typical extinction bursts of the personality disordered.
But the voluntary deaths in my family are excruciating. Mom was well into he'd 90's, had a great life, and she helped me accept the eventuality of her death. My siblings have punished me with the death of any immediate family (of origin) and that cruelty is gut-wrenching.
I get it that I have a family of choice, for which I'm deeply grateful. And that it's not on me to "win" this -- I can't convince the siblings of what they refuse to see. I'm the look in the mirror that my Brother at least can't tolerate. (Sister is a sociopath, I'm convinced, she's getting off on this.)
I feel like I'm saying the right things, and when I'm around others, I do pretty well.
The abandonment has so deeply affected -- when I get back to my house on my own, I collapse. The house itself has a heavy energy, of the failed marriage, maybe that's part of it.
I just feel like I'm giving up, and cycling back and forth between activated and shutting down.
I'm asking for your support here. Hard to do.
Thanks.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

It sounds like you are sort of there: you lost your parents to death and your siblings to estrangement. So perhaps treat the two losses as different, yet joined.
Gentle hugs.
It's hard though as we always hope to heal family wounds... We can only do the best that we can... and the only people we can change is ourselves.... I'm sending you a big hug of hope and healing... and a blessing...x
However, my only sibling (brother) died almost 40 years ago in a tragic motorcycle accident (he was 16). I grew up in a very dysfunctional family and after my brother died, I ended up picking up the pieces for my parents. I ended up running away from home and ended up marrying a man that was an exact replica of my dad and the dysfunction I ran away from. I thought I would make my life better by having my own family (3 kids).....which backfired and all 3 of my kids are estranged and clammier to my ex. They seemed to enjoy hurting me (physically, verbally, mentally, and financially).
I do have one grand daughter and a daughter-in-law (my son threw them away too). I concentrate more on what I have left. I am slowly making new friends (I'm careful who I let in my life) and have built a new life.
Given time and the rebuilding of my life on my terms has had some great rewards. The drama is gone....love and peace surround me in abundance and life is good....at last.
I had to go through a lot of bad stuff to get to the good. I enjoy it and revel in the goodness of my new life. I would only hope that once you get through the grief that you too will experience goodness and well being.
Those that have gone before us are cheering us on and loving us from the other side....I promise :)
Carry on and I give you my support to sustain you until you hit higher ground (((((gentle hugs))))))))))
