I can understand exactly. With each death l was left with all the belongings to deal with. Each time I would bring car loads home file a place to stuff it telling myself I will go through it soon but it never happened. Then I had to put my house up for sale and I was forced to clean out all that stuff. The hardest was my husband's belongings I for some reason kept so many things and I would start going through them and would be over-come with grief, the tears started and hours later I realized I did not get anywhere. I would cry myself to sleep and have to look at it again the next morning. Ugh it is a nightmare, I am still finding my mom's stuff 7 years later. I miss her so much it is a hard task. So each weekend I would start with one small area and not stop until it was cleaned. It took me a few months but I started feeling better as I could see the mess getting smaller. After 3 months it felt very nice to come home and have a clean house with no clutter, then a boulder dropped on my head my daughter and grand baby had to move back home and now I am right back to piles of clutter everywhere again. It is so over-whelming I am so depressed having her back home it has disrupted my entire life again. So you are not alone. Don't be hard on yourself just do what you can and if it does not get done Oh well do it another day. Take time for yourself in between that always worked for me sometimes I would start and then stop for coffee and get involved a movie and never finish but it was always there the next day I said I am not going to get upset about it and I didn't. So take it easy on yourself, it will get done. Keep you head up.

Same here - my Dad died six months after Mama and while they were not together, I was juggling both health issues during their last months. During what would be Mama's last weeks, I was moving Dad's things out of his apartment to here - he'd broken a hip and was in nursing home. Now, what I couldn't give away was coming here (his paperwork/important possessions) - and his Will was never executed, so I'm stuck holding onto paperwork (I'm not Executrix). It's emotional alright - from basement to rooms to closets. I so miss Mama. Sounds like you understand. Many thanks.

I am fighting this right now. It's actually funny because I keep house for other people but when I come home I am just done and don't care. I lost my husband last year and it has gotten worse each day. I finally started getting rid of things and sorting things last week. It is so over whelming. I cry over this too. Some days I just want to run away.

Though I have never been there, I have let things go more since my sisters death than ever in my life. I am always neat and do not keep things, but I usually keep the walls clean, the corners dusted and such and right now I wish I could call someone to come clean house! I am taking one wall at a time, one corner at a time. Replacing mini blindes and such. I know it doesn't sound as bad but it is to me. If I don't keep up I feel out of control. I think you will manage if you take it slowly. Good luck.

I went throught the same phase. Early after my sisters death, I was lucky to get a load of laundry done, let alone clean anything else. It was like that for several months. And I was at home, not working, yet couldn't get anything done. I had no drive, no need. In time, about 7 months or so, I did start going through things, my things, our things, only because I'd made the decision to move back home to Indiana. Then I went the opposite direction. I threw out stuff, I organized, I packed boxes and that was such a sense of accomplishment. Now I have a smaller home, with my sisters things that I cherish here and there. It's just me and my dog so it doesn't get too cluttered. I like that.
