My doctor told me I wouldn't be able to have children due to Behcet's. Due to the scar tissue, etc.
Thank you for referencing your blogs jzeis. It is nice to know that there is still hope.

I am 25 years old and even though I was not diagnosed with it at the time, I had Behcet's during my first pregnancy. It's actually when it was noticed. I had such a bad flare up that I was sent from doctor to doctor to doctor and noone was ever able to help me out or tell me what was wrong. I was on antibiotics for about 3 years straight before they finally realized it.

Anyway (sorry for going off topic) I had Behcet's during both of my pregancies (one in 2005 and one just very recently in 2010). I had a placental abruption with both pregnancies cause by the Behcet's. Thankfully, both of my children survived. Really other than that, nothing else has happened and I do plan to have more children. As long as you are monitored closely and keep a close eye out yourself when you are having any flares, you should be ok.

An abruption with both pregnancies? It's isn't me who is pregnant, it's my daughter. She hasn't had any major flares in years. Still, don't know what will happen now.

yeah, both pregnancies. It was not until the second abruption that they said it was most likely caused by the Behcet's.

Joanne has good information on her site. I had three pregnancies when I was in my early 20's (19 pregnant and 20 when he was born on my first one), I lost my first son when he was 7 days old he was born premature. They did not know why I miscarried at 6 months and I lived in a small town at the time and back then they did not do much to help the baby to live, even if he was almost 3 lbs. (i did not have insurance, so they would not fly him to a city) I was bedridden with the other two but I did make it through and I was young which I wonder if that helped me,as I did not have as many symptoms then.But I did not know I had Behcet's back then.

I am so sorry for all of you who have lost babies or cannot have one. I lost my first one and it is hard. BUT I was ADOPTED if nobody adopts children like me would not have a Mom and Dad. I met my biological mother and she was dying had her words were "I would have had an abortion if I would have had the money" I had so many quations and was excited and I felt like she wished me dead. I was lucky she did not keep me.
I was lucky to have parents that raised me and are y family not her. She may have gave birth but was never a Mother to me. A child comes from the heart not the stomach. SO adopt...if you can and give some child love like I had instead of a woman that did not want a child. I feel sorry for her.A child needs love and caring parents and they a precious gifts whether from your stomsch or a package from somewhere else.

Having kids is actually one of my fears becasue of the behcet's. I do not know if I can physically have a child at all. This summer I am supposed to have some minor reconstructive surgery so I will simply be able to have painless sex but they are not sure if I will be able to have a child.

I had my baby about 8 months ago. I actually had a wonderful pregnancy, health wise. The only thing I flared with were recurring UTI's, about 1-2 a month. Other than that I have never felt better in all my life than when I was pregnant. I never got sick, not even a small cough. I gave birth to a big 9lb 7oz. healthy baby! I wish you and your daughter the best of luck. I have read where some women can lose all of their Behcet's symptoms during pregnancy, and others flare even worse. I will pray for you!

Have two children and had absolutely no issues during either of my pregnancies. Both were completely trouble free. The only problems l had were getting them out trouble free.

thank you so much for your help. Daughter is 33 weeks along now & so far doing well. She has awful pain in her back, but that is probably related to normal pregnancy issues!
