Behcet's Disease Support Group
Behcet's disease (also known as Adamantiades-Behcet's disease), is a chronic condition due to disturbances in the body's immune system. This system, which normally protects the body against infections by producing controlled inflammation, becomes overactive and produces unpredictable outbreaks of exaggerated inflammation. This extra inflammation affects blood vessels.
Yours
Just had my 6th remicade this week and have done little more than sleep-not even work because I am too tired to bathe! I am not ususally this tired; docs are chcking the bloodwork.
I will take ibruprophen for the head ache this week. Also taking ginger in the lolly form , you know the type coated in sugar to lessen the stomach grumbles. I really have never liked ginger..... I think ginger now likes me though! It works so persistance persistance Also sucking on strepsils to combat dry mouth and sore throat.
The fatigue is also decreasing a little every day and l find exercise is good way to battle this one. Have increased my laps to 60 as l feel refreshed after exercise.
Thank u for replies and slaird let us now how your blood works go.
Also, I take B-12 every morning and have to use the sublingual type for it to absorb. It helps SO much.If one can get shots of B-12 or liquid is better than the pills. It is important to, but the doctor does not write an RX for B-12 only the Folate Acid. (Folic Acid is similar.)
Also, when I was on high doses of MTX I never was able to get off Prednisone, but a lot of people do.
At high doses they added Leucovorin Calcium plus the Folate Acid.
Good luck and one does need it. I would argue with a Doctor on this point. But that is just me!
Good Luck! The MTX helps with joint pain/stiffness the most and helps prevent damage to the joints from inflammation.
Remember we all are different, but some medicines have a protocol and this is one of them. It should really help a person, in addition to the B-12 it is a big energy boost in combo and helps with the side effects. I have been on MTX for 4 or 5 years. I stopped it when I had Chemo and then he put me back on unto my surgery Plus, I had to stop when I had the strep infection which I think started with the Remicade...watch for infections when we are on these medicines too. Infection (hidden) can cause fatigue..
I have been on Methotexate for over a year now at 18.75 mgs (seven and half tiny pills) once a week i get sick to my stomach occassionally but nothing I can't handle. As for tiredness have you had your Vit D and B12 levels checked?? My vitiam D was a 5 it is suppose to be 30-60 so I have to take prescription vitiam D once a week (50,000 IUs). Since I have been taking the vit D supplement I am not as tired or sluggish.
