Bedwetting Support Group
Bedwetting (or nocturnal enuresis or sleepwetting) is involuntary urination while asleep. It is the normal state of affairs in infancy, but can be a source of embarrassment when it persists into school age or the teen or adult years. Find others who are coping with a bedwetting problem and share your experiences and questions.
I am 21 years old and have been a sufferer of bedwetting since the age of 6 after being dry for 3 years. As a young child and teen I would see a specialist who overtime gave me medication, alarms, sticker charts and all the rest etc. At the age of 16 I decided to stop seeing her because it wasn't helping and I just got on with it. I finally decided on February 2016 to see a doctor once again in hope they could refer me on to someone with answers . The doctor sounded hopeful and I waited 4 months for an appointment with an adult specialist. I expected answers or at least some options, after seeing him he did some physical tests and asked lots of question and eventually came to the conclusion that it was a problem that would probably never be solved. There was no options, no maybes, I was told that this is something i would just have to live with. Everytime I asked a question his reply was just "I'm sorry I can't answer that because I don't know". He said that most people's bed wetting problem is due to the fact that they have a problem with their bladder, it may be that it is weak and cannot hold it or it could be that their bodies over produce at night time when they should slow down but my bladder is strong, it's my brain that is the problem. I feel so sad, I really though this was it. I have missed out on so much it's crazy. I have never had a sleepover, I have missed out on all the amazing school trips, I am spending close to £100 a month on protective bedding etc. I just wish it would go away ;(
