I have twin 8 year old bedwetters myself. I also switched them both back to diapers a couple of years ago for just the same reasons you are having. The morning laundry was just getting to be too much, especially since my husband and I both wotk full time. Not to mention too the added purchasing of bedding as it only can handle so many washes. So the decision was made to put or twins in disposable diapers again. It wasn't easy and hasn't been easy since as both are not very keen on wearing diapers. My husband and I really didn't give the girls much choice in the matter. We did explain why we were going back to putting them in night time diapers, we had some long family conversations with them many times. While i wasnt really able to convince them to just accept the fact that diapers were the best option, they understood why and that they really didn't have a whole lot of say in the matter. The girls do have a goal plan to work towards. Diapers until dry 1 month, then GoodNites for another month dry. If then after that, no more night time bedwetting protection.
Sit down with your daughter and explain the readons why your going back. Be as sympathetic as you can with her if shes opposed to the idea. Work with her on setting some ground rules and structure regarding ongoing back to diapers, compromise where you can. Also give her a final goal to work towards so she knows theres an end at some point.

One last other alternative thing to try is a reusable bed pad that sits under her but on top of the bottom sheet.
I have some that are soft and fleecy on top but waterproof underneath, if you have more than one you can switch them out for a dry one in the morning if need be.
Way easier than sheets, just wash them. Mine are from Target and pretty big so they don't move, like 30x60.

I know this won't solve the problem immediately, but I would mention this to her doctor to make sure she does not have further health conditions. Diapers, pullups, or good nights help a little to limit the mess and protect bedding but does nothing to solve what might be a problem with her development or a possible disease. Since you are facing this situation already, I would check to see if you can find booster pads for her good nights and adjust from there.

We've tried various waterproof pads but she tosses and turns a lot at night so I usually need to wash the sheets anyway.

She just had her six year old checkup and the doctor isn't worried yet since she's never been dry at night. He did say he'd be more concerned if she had stopped wetting for several months then started again, but that's the case with us.

The inserts idea is a good one - I will try to order some.

LynieMarie - If we do try diapers setting a goal is a good idea. We should probably do that anyway. How long did it take to convince them to try the diapers?

Giving her a goal to work towards gives her hope and encouragement that this won't last forever, especially at 5, soon to be 6. It also helps her realize too that she has a problem that ignoring won't help. Convincing her to go back to diapers if you choose that will be a little bit easier if you give her a way out down the road. A goal sets the boundaries that she needs to meet without just saying "try diapers for a week and we'll see how it is". It's an open ended time frame.
Convincing our daughters to give up on the pull ups for diapers was not easy at all. Lots and lots of power struggles, tempertantrum, whining and complaining. We gave them no choice once really and just stuck with that once we discovered diapers were much more successful than pull ups were. I did use all converasations pointing out that leaking pee all over was just gross and disgusting and that they really different that. They'd feel much better with dry sheets and bedding and no more icky wet spots. They'd also feel better not having smelly beds and be less embarrassed with clean smelling beds. I use a corn starch baby powder in their diapers to help hide any foul odors. Even now Ava has it added to her pull ups now that's she's out of diapers.

Our daughter is eleven and has always had problems with goodnites or pull-ups leaking every time we've tried them. Diapers just fit her better for some reason. She's never been out of diapers at night though (except when we've tried goodnites and the like), so she's used to them. She also really doesn't like waking up in a wet bed, so she doesn't like it when they leak and would rather stick with diapers. Does your daughter mind if she has a leak? If so maybe that's a way you could approach trying diapers.

Booster pads like someone else mentioned are also worth a try, although they didn't work for us.

Like Amy’s daughter, I always had problems with pull-ups. So I prefer wearing diapers. As I got older I learned how to secure them myself. Diapers are also usually cheaper than pull-ups.

We’ve also had issues with pull-ups leaking at night, we did try a few months without as well but like amydo45 we’ve went back to diapers. Even though she can still fit in a baby diaper we use small/youth diapers for a little over a month without a leak anywhere in sight

Thanks for all the responses. I got some diaper insert/booster pads and we tried them in a goodnite last night. She said it was uncomfortable and she didn't like the way it felt (I tried adjusting it several times - didn't help), but was willing to try it. Unfortunately she still leaked overnight.

Is there something obvious I'm missing to make the insert more comfortable and/or work better? We're going to try them a few more nights.

With an insert the goodnite will be thicker, so obviously less comfortable. I was suggesting using an insert as I thought she was a heavy wetter.
Are there any leak guards on her godnite?
I’m thinking you’ll have to buy her plastic pants to solve this problem.

After three nights of using booster pads and three nights of leaks I'm going to say they don't work for her.

SpongeBob - she is a heave wetter, and yes, there are leak guards on the goodnites.

I'll look for some plastic pants - looks like there are lots of choices there I almost don't know where to start looking.

To the people who have used diapers - how did that go? She still fits in toddler pull-ups, so I imagine the largest size baby diapers will fit her. I'm pretty sure she's not going to like that idea.

The big thing with diapers is to find out her size first a gap can be the cause of as many leaks as improper absorbency the good thing with diapers is that if you have the rights size can adjust them to fit her right. One thing I would recommend having her try to go to the bathroom before putting the diaper on her because they are difficult to pull up and down.

You can buy plastic pants online or in stores like Walmart.

She may not like the idea but she will like to wake up in dry sheets.

I would imagine regular diapers would fit her fine. My youngest son, 3, is in regular diapers and my oldest is in youth diapers. But on the occasion we run out of youth diapers my oldest can squeeze into his brothers diaper. He is much older than your daughter.
