Bedwetting Support Group
Bedwetting (or nocturnal enuresis or sleepwetting) is involuntary urination while asleep. It is the normal state of affairs in infancy, but can be a source of embarrassment when it persists into school age or the teen or adult years. Find others who are coping with a bedwetting problem and share your experiences and questions.
As a follow-up to my previous post, I'd like to encourage all members of this group to report any activity, public or private, on this group that makes you feel scared, threatened or uncomfortable in any way. I don't think it's necessary or wise to list all the different specific ways people might do this, but we all know what it means to feel uncomfortable with something another person says.
In general, if you ever receive a private message or chat request that makes you feel uncomfortable for ANY reason, a good policy is to tell the person ONE time that you don't feel comfortable with what is being said, and either end the conversation or ask them to change the subject. If after you've asked them to stop one time, the same behavior continues, PLEASE consider reporting the behavior to the DS staff so that they can act on it, for the sake of any future members who might be targets of similar behavior from the same people.
If ANY message you receive from another person on DS (on a message board, private message, or Meebo chat) makes you feel scared, threatened or uncomfortable:
1. Highlight the specific part of text that made you uncomfortable (if in a chat window or private message), or highlight the URL (web address, from the top line of your browser) of the page you are on, if it is someone's picture or profile. Hit "Control-C" to make a copy of it so you can include it in your report.
2. If you are in a private chat window with the person, click "Report" in the top right corner of the chat window. Otherwise, click "Report Abuse" at the bottom of the DS page you are on. If you report through the DS page, you will be asked for the DS name of the person you are reporting, so make sure to write it down or remember it so you can type it in!
3. Hit "Control-V" to paste what you copied earlier into your report. Then, type a short message explaining why the text, picture, etc. in question made you uncomfortable.
4. AFTER you have finished reporting the person, THEN click "Block" in the chat window to prevent the person from contacting you any further.
5. Do NOT confront the person, argue with them, or say anything else to them after you have decided to report their behavior. Do NOT post anything on your profile or a public message board attacking or bad-mouthing the person by name, even if you think they really deserve it. This will only make them more upset, and maybe even give them a reason to report you.
6. If you don't feel comfortable reporting to DS yourself, send a private message with as much information as you can to another DS member you trust (preferably someone you have known for a long time and NOT someone who just joined recently!). If you copy and paste enough of the offending chat logs or messages, that person might be able to help you make a report or even make the report for you.
7. If you feel like your personal safety is threatened (such as if someone asks questions about your hometown or where you live, or asks you sexual things if you are under 18), copy as much evidence as you can, leave your computer open with DS running, and contact your local police department immediately. THEN go through with the DS reporting procedure, after the police have been notified.
8. SAVE ALL of your chat logs!! BEFORE you close any chat windows or delete any messages that make you feel uncomfortable, copy-paste any and all offending material into a separate document so that you can provide it as evidence later, if need be.
While I regret that this post is necessary on this board, recent events on the site have convinced me, sadly, that it is. If anyone has any questions or concerns about this post or anything said in it, please feel free to reply or message me.
