It is the normal state of affairs in infancy, but can be a source of embarrassment when it persists into school age or the teen or adult years. Just adding some questions for discussion on typical problems with kids in diapers, pull ups and other forms of protection against bladder and bedwetting problems.
My biggest problem and a fairly common is is what can you do to clean up a torn or ripped diaper, especially one that has been wet in. As my oldest, Girl 11 is often in plastic outer covered disposable diapers, the outer covering sometimes rips or tears apart spilling out the inner stuffing. Most common cause is the zipper fly on her jeans. Other times she'll tear her diaper at home on something when her diaper is mostly exposed, such as no bottoms on, just the diaper. I find the stuffing, which has most likely turned to gel very difficult to clean up once it hits the floor. I've tried wiping, vacuuming and sweeping it up. The gel is very tough to get up, it's sticky and clingy. I've even tried sprinkling carpet cleaner on it or baby powder first to see if that helps the clean up by drying it up a little. Doesn't really work. Have any of you others had this problem and have a better solution? Best I do now is sweep it up but doesn't help if Emily tears her diaper over the carpeting or on the cloth furniture.

Also, it might make her feel better about having to wear a diaper :) Personally, I always felt better (less like a little kid I guess) when I have something over it, even though it doesn't help much to hide it.
Nice to meet you and thank you for your idea! I appreciate it. We haven't used many panties over her diaper in the past, really didn't see a need for it but may give it a shot in the future. Her diapers don't tear too often, maybe a couple of times a month. As Emily still has her diapers changed, the panties were just in the way so I avoided putting them on her. I do see your point about her feeling maybe a little better with a pair on over her diapers though. Maybe I'll give the covering a try this weekend and see how it goes. Thank you for replying! I would think that by 11 most kids would be embarrassed to be exposed.
we are using all=in=one diaper pants or cloth with plastic pants. Some pants have a nice print so your daughter might like them more than other diaper or pull=ups?
Have a look at my journals which show the diapers me and Daphne are in. The outer backing is quite strong so no fear to rip them apart. Let me know what you think?
