Beating Trich Community Group
You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.
And thanks for the warm welcome to the group kauxfire. When I first found this group I did a lot of reading, and there are so many fantastic, informative things on here - I've been coming back everyday to more and more. You're right, knowledge is power!
I've been doing well, I had my first day in the office yesterday, where I tend to pull a lot, and was PF! I had a few urges to do it and found my hand in my hair a number of times, but managed to resist. Taking it one day at a time, but feeling pretty great being PF for 3 days now : )
XOXO
Being pull free requires much effort. Hard work but worth it. You can do it.
:)
I've also started using Lee Strafford's Hair Growth Treatment, which is a protein treatment meant to encourage hair growth. Has anyone tried it before? I'm hoping this will help with my regrowth - some of my hair is pretty much just stubble, so it needs all the help it can get!
Nope haven't tried it. Many people have had success with biotin for hair growth (it's a supplement).
Day 18, wooooooooo!!
This thread helped me enormously last time. I stopped pulling for the best part of 9 months, and had substantial regrowth. The hair I thought wouldn't grow back did, and I could put my hair in a proper pony tail for the first time in years! Something had clicked and I had no urge to do it anymore.
However, I then took on a job that I found very stressful, and it triggered me to start again. All my hard work was undone which was very disheartening.
Recently though, I've been a lot better. I've got a much less stressful job, am settled in my new city of Sydney and am in a loving and caring relationship. I'm still pulling, but I've been much better.
I found a fantastic hair dresser here in Sydney who specialise in people who have hairloss, such as this. They recommended a hair piece where they pull as much hair as possible into it and attach it with little beads. It is amazing. It gives me a barrier for my pulling so I don't go too far up, and I can't get hold of any of the hairs that are in there. I know it wouldn't work for everyone, but these types of solutions do help. And at the very least, I feel more confident as my hair is as thick as it should be again.
I've included the link here - this is me:

If anyone is in Sydney and would be interested in this, take a look. And let me know if you want more information or would like to meet up for a chat. :)
I'm getting married in one month, and the stress of that isn't helping, but I am trying my hardest not to pull for that event, and I think being on here will help. I've done it before and I know I (and all if you!) can do it!
