Back Pain Support Group
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical care. In fact, about 3 in 4 adults will experience back pain during their lifetime! The term back pain includes pain affecting the neck, midback and low back. Acute back pain may begin suddenly with intense pain but typically lasts fewer than three months. Usually, chronic back pain is persistent, steady, and...

I've asked my manager and HR to work from home 3 days a week due to chronic back pain. Many other people, including people in my department, work from home. They denied my request and have offered an ergonomic chair and desk. I'm thinking that won't fix the problem as I drive 480 miles a week to/from work and sit 9 hours which makes my pain intolerable. Anyway....just wondering if anyone else has worked with a lawyer to get permission to work from home under ADA laws?

If you are certified disabled then I would guess it would be not a problem, but what kind of retrebution would this bring? To force a company to let you work from home, I would think that this fact would get around to other places, and might haunt you later. If the pain is intolerable and you can't drive and work 10 hours a day, have you tried different type of work, or something closer and less hours?

It just seems unfair to me that other people without disabilities are able to work from home but I am denied. A person with a new puppy was granted to work from home to care for the puppy. I am looking for other work closer, but it is insane that I have to quit a job I love just because I have a medical problem that I can't control.

I totally understand that. I did love the different jobs I had before my condition worsened to the point of stopping work. But I was and am unable to sit, stand, walk, or do much of anything more than 20min, 30max. That is where I am today, unable to work and on SSDI. I will never work again, and have finally come to grips with that. That is a hard pill to swallow, being disabled but it does happen. If you can find work you are able to do and tollerate the pain and discomfort Good for You. If not you might have to look into something else.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
