Back Pain Support Group
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical care. In fact, about 3 in 4 adults will experience back pain during their lifetime! The term back pain includes pain affecting the neck, midback and low back. Acute back pain may begin suddenly with intense pain but typically lasts fewer than three months. Usually, chronic back pain is persistent, steady, and...
Hopefully the MRI will shed some light on the problem!
Be prepared to see a long list of abnormal things, with a diagnoses of "normal", the radiologist are worse then the surgeons...
I also noticed that when I ate too many sweets, my back hurt worse and when I stayed on a mostly vegetarian diet, I improved.
I also found DMSO rubbed on clean skin, no body lotion, before bed immensely helpful. If you can get into and out of a tub, a cup or two of Epsom Salts in hot water eases the pain as it supplies magnesium to your system, very soothing.
Lillymaria, while I do not have an exact answer/remedy for you, please accept my warmest wishes at this time of need. I empathize with you as I, too, suffer from back pain, which is most noticeable at night while I'm trying to sleep. Because of potential interactions, I am unable to take any standard pain medication, so this pain is my persistence pal.
Have you had help from a physical therapist who can guide you through the RIGHT exercises for YOU? (And, yes, I understand that exercise hurts you, as it does me). Have you tried acupuncture?
Massage does not ease my pain, but finding a competent and caring massage theapist has helped my back feel "comforted." May you know that you are not alone though I'm sure it can feel that way!!
So out of desperation I tried everything short of going under the knife.
I tried a lot of different therapies. Chiro helped me a lot but only for short times after treatment. Physio helped for a while but lost effectiveness for me after a few months. Meds were useless as we all know....
I finally (reluctantly) tried PEMF. I tried several of the ones you can find on the Internet (borrowed a few to save $$$, some are VERY expensive). I compared them back-to-back and I reported on it on this discussion group. a few months ago
The ones that worked best for me were AllevaWave, SomaPulse, and Micro-Pulse. It turns out the SomaPulse has been discontinued, replaced with a new product that I did not evaluate, so I can't say anything about it. But from my experience, and now the experience of many friends and family, I really feel that the AllevaWave and Micro-Pulse are very effective. I am completely off my pain meds now because my pain is almost completely gone. Anyway, that has been my experience.
Micro-Pulse is the original manufacturer, so what you need to do is look around to see who has the best price on the internet.
One thing I recently discovered is that if you contact www.micro-pulse.com and ask for their discount code, they will just give it to you. My dad got $100 off. Not sure if they still do this but might be worth asking. I don't remember their email but it is posted on their web page.
Ask a few people before trying PEMF though. I don't know if it works for everyone.
I hope that is helpful.
