hello everybody i have spinal stenosis with degenerated disc disease in fact all my disc are gone and i get every pain imaginable in my back and in my abdominable area because everyone of my nerves are being pinch oh yeah and nerve damage if i were you try anything that works or might work to eleviate your pains. i wish everyone lots of releife and hope.

The burning is from nerves that are affected in that area most likely. Look up a DERMATOME map...it will show you what areas are affected by what discs in your body. It is a pretty helpful critter. Also, if you look up spinal stenosis symptoms---many sites will list burning or dysthesia (sp?) pain as part of the symptoms. It is from the nerve compressions.

Dernatone map is a great idea. Can explain or make sense of why it burns here, hurts there etc. Also had a thought. There is a drug called pyridium (sold in stores as AZO). It provides temporary soothing relief for burning upon urination - it has been prescribed to me for the burning that comes with bladder infections.

However I think you might want to consult with a urologist to see what they think and what other options are available.

I have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis also. With that I have severe arthritis in my hips. The pain is so bad sometimes that I cannot tell which is which when it comes to telling where the pain is coming from. When I stand it gets worse. When I sit I get stiff and I am sick of taking pain meds. We have a pool and I used it while in the summer but with winter coming up I can already feel it coming. I have read that epidural shots only work for a short period of time and they would rather work on my hips instead of my back right now. I stretch and do my exercises but I have fear that I am going to be a cripple.

I have spinal stenosis and bulging disk also. It shifts your body which causes problems with bladder & bowel function. It is probably (my opinion here) causing an irritation to your bladder?

hi, i have exactly the same problem as you and am waiting for an operation to widen my stenosis canal and remove a disc to release the pressure on my nerves. i was recently hospitalised and had to have a catheter for 3 days as my bladder wasnt working, this can be due to the nerves being trapped or damaged, hope you get some help and answers soon, hugs x x x x

HELP!! Spinal Stenosis is ruining my life!!

I have lived wirh Rheumatoid Arthiris for 40+ years. Had some good years and some bad. Had a dozen surgeries and my hands are permanently deformed. But I always got by. Now I have Spinal Stenosis and I am in almost constant pain anytime I move at all. cannot walk more than 10 minutes. Cannot do the simplest housework.

Naproxen helps but it also raises blood pressure so I don't want to live on it.

In five days I am having a diagnostic shot to prepare me for an epidural. Anyone have one?

I have a degenerative disc disease, bulging disc between C5 and c6 of te spine. I have had an MRI and the steroid injection however the pain it brings is mainly nerves.

Recently the Surgeon gave me three options
1. Have an operation to remove the disc
2. Take drugs that they use for epilepsy
3. Have pain management counseling

I opted for the 3rd as

a) there is a high risk of further complications including paralysis
b) I do not want any more drugs on top of what I take already
c) I am more into an holistic approach or psychological.
