Hello everybody!!
Well, it's a mixed review on the Epidural.
I am feeling somewhat better when I wake up. Meaning I can get out of bed without being in moderate, to severe pain. Moving around is another story. I am still having pain in the low back, radiating down the sciatica nerve, into the hip, and my leg (above and below the knee) and toes are still going numb.
The pain medication is hit or miss. This is crazy!! I am on Lyrica, Baclofen, and Norco... along with Fishoil, Flax seed oil, multivitamin, probiotics, calcium magnesium, and potatssium. UGH!!
I had to skip picking up my prescription yesterday because I had to sit on 95 for a 1/2 hour. I was no where near the Dr's office, and I was so uncomfortable!
I see the nurse in a couple of weeks. Not looking forward to it! I am still feeling a pinching sensation when I walk. I am trying to push myself, as the nurse suggested. It's so hard when you're in pain.
The Rheumatologist upped my Lyrica. He wants me to wait to "workout" until the Lyrica kicks in. I AM SO FRUSTRATED!

Gosh, I hope you have some more pain relief. That's the thing with these injections. They are a hit and miss sometimes. You can't help but have some hope, and then find out they don't work.
But, I will share this with you. One time I had an injection in my hip, because I have terrible pain in my left hip and thigh, that is annoying painful, and feels like my thigh muscle goes out of place, and it locks up and cramps in my left upper thigh, eveyrtime I get up to walk.
Well, one time after the injection, it actually worked!!! I felt great for a week, and then slowly it came back, and then it came back full force, with the same pain, but for a week I felt great!
Now that hasn't really happened with my back. I don't know why, but it hasn't. I guess it's just my weight that is the key issue with any of these injections. I'm too heavy, for any of these to work.
maybe after I lose the weight, it will be better. I'm hoping!! And, i'm having gastric bypass surgery at the end of August, to hopefully relieve some back and knee and hip pain, due to stenosis, and arthritis.
Keep smiling, ya never know...yours may still work out to give you some more relief!!

It's funny you should say that. I was googling my pain, and it looks like it might be the piriformis muscle causing me issues. I am hoping they will give me an injection in that area. The back aches, but the overall, holy crap, pain in my back is a bit better. The buttock/hip isn't. I get to see the b*^ch nurse on the 12th... let's see if she will ignore me some more, or at least ask the Dr about this. I read your other posting. Glad you are feeling better with the bladder!!
I don't think I could go through with the bariatric surgery. I know I won't be on narcotics forever, and I have to be able to take something for the pain, which leaves me with NSAIDS. Can't take them once you have bariatric surgery. :::sigh:::

I have a friend who had a series of epidural shots and he was able to get off all of his pain meds. Every year he gets his shots and he is good to go. Maybe you will have the same luck as my friend Frank. You may want to ask your Doctor about a time released pain medication. I know it really helped me when I started taking one.
Gosh, I can only pray! I am already past my 3rd epidural. I can say my low back went from 10 to 4. I am still having buttock, hip, and groin pain, and am still losing sensation to my thigh, calf, and foot/toes. After the 3rd epidural, was when the thigh numbness started. Never had that before. My foot started getting totally numb this weekend. I can only hope, and pray!! I will ask the nurse about the time released meds. She has ignored me every time I have said that the 5/325 is not strong enough. I'm sure she'll ignore me yet again. I'm almost expecting it. UGH...

So weird you also have hip pain, and groin pain. My Hip dr says I just have bone on bone pain, but I tend to disagree.
I've had severe pain in the upper thigh, towards the groin for almost 4--5 yrs.
No one has done an MRI of this area. Just xrays. It feels like the muscle goes out of place, and then when I get up off the bed or a chair, my hip locks up, and I have to like, shake it, to get it to loosen up, and then when I walk or turn my left leg/hip, I feel this deep pain inside the thigh or groin. When I try to roll over in bed, and lay on one side, I can barely lift my left leg/thigh up.
I think I either have a cyst, or something up there, is pressing on a nerve, or on the sciatic again.
I had a decompression on the left sciatic nerve 5 yrs ago.
I'm sick of complaining to the Dr, but not sure who to go to for this?????????????
So tired of the pain, and what if my gastric bypass surgery does NOT correct this!!!! It can't be just the weight, that causes all of this. or is it???

Don't lose your hope! I keep hearing that losing weight is supposed to help... of course, I hurt almost as bad when I weighed 115 pounds. I digress! Anywho... Yes, I brought the hip/buttock/groin pain to the Dr, and he said they're all related to the sciatica pain. My back is "better." I say it in quotes because it does still hurt, but the level of pain, on most days, is between a 1-3. My main issue now is this buttock pain, and the numbness that has increased. My foot, which used to be topically numb, will now go totally numb. Even though it's numb, it also hurts. If that makes any sense. :::sigh::: Keep squeaking. The squeaky wheel gets the oil!!

I am glad your Dr is working out for you. I am kind of scared because the nurse made it seem that once the epidurals were done, and if they didn't do anything for me, they would "kick" me out of the practice... and on to??? She mentioned surgery. I refuse to have back surgery. I don't have anything "life threatening" per the nurse, anyway. Why would I let a surgeon hack on me if there is nothing that would be helped by surgery. So, I may be looking for a new Dr. if this group says they give up. :::sigh and tears:::
I went to see a gastric group. Thought about having the surgery done. I just am not a huge fan of surgery. I have to have the feet surgeries I have had, but, trust me, they are done with much caution on my part!
