Back Pain Support Group
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical care. In fact, about 3 in 4 adults will experience back pain during their lifetime! The term back pain includes pain affecting the neck, midback and low back. Acute back pain may begin suddenly with intense pain but typically lasts fewer than three months. Usually, chronic back pain is persistent, steady, and...
If it's SPASMS you're having, have you tried a muscle relaxer??? I have a ton of spasms, and I need my muscle relaxers more than my pain medicine!!!!!
Have you had an MRI to see if there are any bulging discs or stenosis? If so, and it truly IS only spasms, try a heating pad, hot showers, etc. Icy Hot and other such sprays and creams can help relieve spasms too.
Massage might help you,if your insurance pays for it,,,,,
I find yoga to be wonderful,,,,,,,,
Physical therapy might help as well.
Good luck, back pain is some of the most life changing pain I've ever had,,,,,,I will never again have my CHOICE of jobs,,,,,I plan my LIFE around my back,,,,,,,I've been lucky enough to get some relief from cymbalta (a pain blocker) and tramadol (pain reliever) and flexeril (muscle relaxer),,,,,,,,but it's all relative,,,,,,,I still have and probably always WILL have pain in my back, hips and legs.
You should also invest in a herb tablet called turmeric. it is a miracle worker. I was on a lot of different drugs, but they get expensive and can become highly addictive. Drugs can always make things a lot worse. You need to see a nutritionist who can help you eat properly and give you any other vitamins or supplements to help with your pain.
You need to speak with a doctor who will actually listen to what you have to say and the more you understand about your own body, the better you can help them understand what is going on with you. I have been doing a lot of research on the human anatomy so I know what is going on with myself and can better explain it to others. There is a lot that can go wrong with your back. Every muscle in your body is connected to your back in some way. When you have a bad back, you literally cannot do anything... it is horrible, it is lonely, and no one understands.
But you have to promise yourself you will keep moving forward and you will figure out what is wrong with your body. You have to keep trying. I know everyday is hard, but you can do it. Do it for yourself. Keep going, get the help you need and be persistent. If your doctor is not listening to you, get a new doctor. Never be satisfied until someone LISTENS to you and actually is concerned. I wish you the best of luck!
Plus the DEA has NO business in the doctor/patient relationship in the first place. But they've pushed their way in anyway.
It's taken me 26 years to find a doctor who WILL properly treat my pain -- and he's doing a good job at it too. He's not afraid to prescribe what I need. It's been a long, hard, battle and many times I wanted to give up -- but didn't. I hope you can find a doctor who will aggressively treat YOUR pain. You may have to look for awhile, but it's worth it. God bless and take care. Hugs, Lee
Good Luck.
cheers virginie
I use ice if I feel a spasm coming on and if it keeps coming I will take a flexiril. I do not take pain meds or keep them around but I do always keep the muscle relaxers around. I remember 1 solid week of spasms and then I got some muscle relaxers oh boy, I was in heaven. I could stand up straight again and walk.
You do need physical therapy and exercise or your muscles can atrophy and die.
