Muscle relaxers will be helpful on a short term basis however, it will make you very sleepy.
Also anti-inflammatory meds will help reduce the pain as well.

TENS units work if it's more severe. SOMA is a great med for that but effects other meds, driving, and balance (depending on how much you take).
Make sure you are getting enough potassium. But watch those pills because the body does store it, it doesn't flush out when you get too much (as with most other vitamins) so it can build to toxic levels. I eat a banana every morning and night. Keeps muscles from cramping and potassium at a good level naturally.
Also make sure you drink plenty of water and that your electrolytes are in good supply.
