No need to apologize to us.Between the two jobs you probably strained it/pulled it,so to be honest I wouldn't bother putting a claim in at work because you can't say for sure how you did it? Anywho,hope it improves by itself-but speaking from personal experience-back problems come and go,so you may still want to see your dr even if it gets better on its own.

I would strongly encourage you to see a Chiropractor. I have experienced your problem and in my opinion you have some lumbar muscle weakness which has strained them. Therefor they are pulling your vertebrae out of alignment which in turn is pinching the sciatic nerves causing your symptoms.

It sounds - although I am not a Dr, just a long time back pain/injury "expert by experience" - like you may have pulled or strained some lower back muscles that may have then involved your sciatic nerve. Please be diligent in dong what your Dr says to do. Back pain is debilitating enough, but when the sciatic nerve becomes involved, it can be excruciating. Be careful of the heat application. Sometimes it can exasperate the nerve pain. In the end, the best thing for you to do is see a Dr, follow his advice, and use heat/cold whenever it helps you. There is a roll on pain application that I find works better than the pads. You can get it at Walmart. It's called Stop Pain.

Might think about a MRI to be on the safe side.

To file or not to file, that is the question. And a good one too. I injured my back at work back in 1997. I was hit by a 10 ton vehicle being driven by a new hire. He ran into me and messed me up good. Needless to say I had to file a claim. My employer eventually had to let me go since I couldn't perform the needed tasks any longer. I was hired two years later. Three months into that job I re-injured my back. I filled out an accident form and waited for things to calm down for three days but my back ended up getting worse. I had no choice but to file a claim. My new employer tried to fire me right away but Worker's Comp said, "NO, you cannot fire him." Then they tried to tell Worker's Comp that I was only part time. But my time cards indicated that I was putting in 50+ hours a week so that got shot down as well. So the company contacted an attorney in order to take me to court but was told that they didn't have a leg to stand on. Then Worker's Comp notified them that I was a Preferred Worker. Meaning that my back was covered by my previous employer. Overnight their attitude completely changed.

So if you are injured at work, you cannot lose your job until a physician determines that you are permanently disabled.
Secondly, if you are injured at work, file an accident report. It may get better in a few days but reoccur later. A paper trail is vital if you end up needing major treatment. I ended up having surgery and I am now totally disabled. I have had to fight with Worker's Comp for years and finally won but in the process I have become very knowledgeable about WA state Worker's Comp laws. They vary from state to state but if anyone ever has any questions I will attempt to answer them.
