I just started using Lidoderm patches yesterday! I've only tried it once, but it made a difference for my lower back pain. I have an annular tear in my L5-S1 joint, and maybe some other problems.

I think the Voltaren gel is a lot stronger than the Lidoderm patches.
I use a rubber glove to put on the Voltaren gel. When I was using the Lidoderm patches, I had to use tape because the patches kept falling off.

I tried the Lidoderm patches but they didn't really seem to help much and they didn't cover enough of the area that was in pain. Sorry, can't help on the gel, never tried that.

I've never been on the Voltaren, but I LOVE my Lidoderm patches!

I have an lidoderm patch on right now the only problem i have is when i wear one the next day the area above where i had the patch on, hurts more then it did the day before, someone told me it is because it is chasing the pain. sounds about right. I really like them they are expensive unless your insurance pays for it.

I asked my doctor for a script of voltaren gel, just the other day I havent used it yet but will let you know how it works, when i read the directions it isaid you had to rub on the painful area up to four times a day, i hope it isnt one of those gels that you need to use every day to build up to get the full effect

The lidoderm patches work right away so i like that with them

The voltaren gel is great. I found some Lidoderm patches here but they are old. Do you all know if they are still effective? I am buying a mattress topper now. Anyone have a good one?

Check the box of the patches, it should have an expiration day on it. I have a memory foam bed topper and I love it! Is the best!

Tipper, what is the height of yours 2 or 3" and is it 4 lb density and what is the name of it? So confusing to read about them all.

I would lay down on it and see what works best for you, also some places let you return the mattress topper if it doesnt work for you within the first 2 weeks.

I used the gel for the first time today and so far so good, havent got a ton of relief but i am not sure if i put enough on i didnt have that card that marks how much to use

Voltaren gel works great for nerve pain and lidoderm works good for muscle pain. I have rheumatoid arthritis that causes nerve pain going to my blood vessel and the gel works wonders when the injection of humira doesn't work. I have put the gel on my back as well for the spinal fusion failure pain and it works but minimally. Hope this helps.

never tried the gel, i have liderom patch, it dont seem to work, sometimes, but i think nowhere mine is so deeper it cant prentrate it.

now i have tried it to help inflmations flector patches it helps on inflation comapre of other. has anyone ever try that???

Is Voltaren gel the same as Voltarol gel (diclofenac)? I haven't had any success with that personally. Mind you, I'm not having much success with the oral diclofenac either, which has in the past been great for other problems.

Hi Precious, I use the Lidoderm patch after a hot shower in the a.m. and then I can stand up straight. I love my memory foam mattress topper - it is 3".

I am not able to take NSAIDS because I had gastric bypass surgery so I use Voltaren gel. To me...it is one of those things that I could take it or leave it. but my boyfriend likes it when his back gets a little sore.
