As you know everyone responds differently to medications but I absolutely hated this medication. I felt like a zombie. I cannot explain how this medication made me feel....I almost felt toxic (I know, makes no sense). It was terrible.

I can say that I know others that swear by this medication. So, it cannot hurt to try it. I say try anything you can to avoid surgery. Best of luck. Lora

i hated it and neurotin both. I know alot of people who had nasty side affects with this med. but i also know people who swear by it. So you should try it and see if you are one of the lucky ones it works for. I had bad mental confussion with it, I could not function at all. hope you have great results.

It's a Godsend for some, IF you can tolerate the side effects. My hubby can't go without it but had a spinal stimulator implanted in order to reduce his dosage of the lyrica because of the mind boggling side effects. I tried it for a very short period of time but could not stay on it because I need to be able to communicate effectively with my patients. It does work wonders for the nerve pain though and neither of us could tolerate the neurontin (gastrointestinal issues and migraines). Good luck to you, xoxoLyn

I also had a terrible time with Lyrica. It did nothing for my pain, messed up my vision and made me very, very edgy. I mean climb to the top of a tower edgy. That scared me. I would suggest you just moniter yourself carefully and maybe even have a close friend or family member keep an eye on your moods. Who knows? You may have luck with it.

I did really bad on it. It gave me terrible headaches, an uneven heart beat, memory loss and confusion and my hands and feet swelled like crazy. Very similar to neurontin which did the same thing to me.

Far be it for me to go against the vox populi, but I have found Lyrica good for leg pain (nerve related) due to my bad back. I tried Lyrica 2 years ago and it didn't work, as well as made me feel bad, tingly, but no mental, vision or heart problems. I didn't have leg pain then. It's different now. Since I have a need that Lyrica works on the bad side effects perhaps are lessened, like when my pain pills make me feel good when my pain is less but don't have the same euphoric effect when the pain has increased. You can always stop if need be. Lortabs worked much better for the disc problems I have.

Everyone is different. It did help the pain, but knocked me out like I was on drugs. Made my vision so bad I couldn't see, and I gained 20 lbs in 2 months.

I would try it, and just like they said above have someone watch you, and closely monitor yourself when you first start taking it.

Lyrica did not agree with me either...... It made me feel like I was on a cloud all of the time and all I wanted to do was sleep. I experienced no gain weight, but It worked great for the nerve pain. Ultimately I had the spinal cord stimulator installed and got rid of it. Everyone is different thought, my BFF takes it for her Fibromyalgia and she loves it and has no side effects whatsoever! So give it a try, it might be the one that is going to help you or not.

Hey, I feel as if I'm like the only one with a positive review.

I absolutely love lyrica. I'm on the max dosage a person can be on and I barely have any side effects. Some days my mind might be a little foggier than others but that could just be from a number of things from either lack of sleep (college student here haha) or a combination with the pain meds I was on.

The only side effect I've noticed is my eye sight isn't as great as it once was. But I don't need corrective glasses not being on the medicine and refuse to get them just because of the medicine so I deal with it by squinting.

My problem was that I understand where a lot of people are coming from for about the first month or two I remember just being in a daze but it helped with the nerve pain down my leg so much that I stuck with it and now I can drive, work out, work in general, and I think if you stick with it long enough it could really be a positive drug.

Also no weight gain, I've actually lost weight in total of about 100 pounds with diet and exercise but with being on the medicine. Also my mouth gets really dry sometimes but nothing a glass of water or gum can't take care of.

I say stick with it, you can usually tell the full effects by about 3-4 weeks. My mother tried it for a week and didn't get any relief but when she retried it and stuck with it it has helped her, and her back is A LOT worse than mine.

I was on it for about 4 months.
The side effects of it got to me, weight gain etc.
For the 4 months i couldnt do much cause it really got me in my head, had no energy what so ever.
Sometimes it works for a person and sometimes it doesnt.
The pain doctor had me on a high doseage and if she had started me off small doseage it might have worked for me.
As for the pain side it did help alot with the pain.

One of my girlfriend had 2 stroke from taking lyrica and gained 50 pounds in a week,she is having lots of trouble with her heart now.I also had a niece who took it made her very sick she had to be in the hospital till they found witch one of her meds was causing the problem it was the lyrica.Also another friend took it was on verge of stroke when she got to the hospital.Please think it over,From what i have read and heard from my friends it is really not worth the risk.maudie
